Corn, soybean, and milk producers can now plan based on the new minimum prices defined for the 2025/2026 harvest. The values were published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) based on technical studies by the National Supply Company (CONAB) and approved by the National Monetary Council (CMN). The measure is part of the Minimum Price Guarantee Policy (PGPM), an instrument that ensures income protection for farmers in the face of market instability.
Among the most important products, corn, a pillar of animal feed and the agribusiness sector, had its minimum price updated based on regional and production conditions. Milk, essential for thousands of family farmers across the country, also has new reference values, ensuring greater predictability for the sector, especially in a scenario of high costs. Soybeans, Brazil's main commodity, saw a slight decline of 6.87% in its minimum price, in line with international market fluctuations and recent supply and demand dynamics.
In addition to these three core crops, the ordinance published in the Official Gazette of the Union establishes minimum prices for other strategic products for national agriculture. These include rice, beans, cotton, cultivated cocoa, cassava, sorghum, cultivated natural rubber, jute/mallow, and their seeds. In some cases, such as cassava from the North and Northeast regions and natural rubber, the adjustments exceed 12%, valuing activities with a strong regional presence.
The new values will come into effect in a staggered manner from July 2025 until mid-2027, according to the planting and harvesting calendars of the different crops.
The PGPM acts as a safety net for rural producers. If the market price falls below the established minimum, farmers can activate instruments such as direct subsidies or sales to the Federal Government. These measures are implemented by Conab, which also prepares the technical studies used as the basis for price formulation.
Detailed rules for accessing the PGPM mechanisms are available in the Conab Operational Manual. Mapa Ordinance No. 812 of July 7, 2025, with the complete price table by product and region, can be found in the Official Gazette of the Union.
