Soybeans lose momentum at the end of August with lower external demand

The intense pace of negotiations involving soybeans throughout August lost momentum at the end of the month, mainly reflecting the weakening in demand, according to surveys by Cepea.

According to the Research Center, the proximity of the 2025/26 harvest in the Northern Hemisphere and expectations of progress in the trade agreement between the United States and China tend to reduce Brazilian grain exports, a scenario that drives away demand.

Researchers point out that this movement of foreign consumers redirecting from Brazil to the US is common during this off-season period.

Furthermore, the exchange rate devaluation (US$/R$), which is unfavorable to Brazilian exports, also weighed on prices in the country, according to Cepea surveys.
