Brazilian beef exports reached a record high in July. Researchers at Cepea reinforce that this information was confirmed by Secex on Wednesday (6), the day the new US tariff on Brazilian beef imports came into effect, at 50%.
In July, 310.2 thousand tons were exported, 15.3% more than in June and 4% above the then record reached in October/24, of 298.24 thousand tons (in natura and processed).
Revenue also reached an all-time high of R$9.2 billion. Exports to the US were virtually unchanged from June, at 18,235 tons—a 2-ton increase—but their share of total Brazilian sales fell from 6.81 TP4T in June to 5.91 TP4T in July.
China increased its share from 50% to 51.1% of the total, increasing the volume by 14.8% (or 23,952 tons) from one month to the next. Cepea researchers indicate that several other destinations also increased their purchases.
According to Cepea researchers, the July results show that, in response to the imposition of the US tariff, national export industries moved and were successful in their efforts to increase sales to other destinations. Some are also expected to reallocate their trade relations with the US to units they have in other countries not impacted by such a tariff.
