2025/26 Harvest Plan already releases R$10 billion in credit from BNDES

The 2025/2026 Harvest Plan reached the milestone of R$10 billion in funding approvals from the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). Financing began to be released on July 17 of this year, under the Federal Government's Agricultural Program (PAGF) and BNDES Rural Credit (R$812 million).

The resources were allocated to the National Program to Strengthen Agriculture (Pronaf) and the National Program to Support Medium-Sized Rural Producers (Pronamp). The Program for Construction and Expansion of Warehouses (PCA) and the Program for Modernization of the Fleet of Agricultural Tractors and Associated Implements and Harvesters (Moderfrota) were also supported.

According to the BNDES, R$1.5 billion was spent on financing alone, and R$1.5 billion was approved for investments in facilities and machinery. For family farmers, micro, small, and medium-sized rural producers, and cooperatives, disbursements totaled R$1.5 billion.

The bank also emphasized that the operation was carried out through partner institutions, enabling a decentralized distribution of resources, reaching 93% of municipalities. "This performance demonstrates the high demand for resources and BNDES's ability to serve, with agility and efficiency, this sector, which is one of the main drivers of economic development," said the bank's president, Aloizio Mercadante.

He added that this year, under President Lula's guidance, the budget made available, a total of R$1.5T 70 billion, was the largest ever granted by the bank to the agricultural sector, R$51.4T above the value of the Harvest Plan for the previous period and R$180.1T higher than the resources approved in the 2022/2023 Harvest Plan.

According to Mercadante, these approved loans "serve both large and small farmers and demonstrate our commitment to a sustainable and innovative agricultural sector. Of the R$10 billion approved so far, approximately R$3.3 billion has gone to family farming," he highlighted.
