On March 27, the National Supply Company (Conab) released the March edition of the Agricultural Monitoring Bulletin (BMA), with partial data and information about the climate in the fields for the month of March. According to the study, the highest rainfall occurred in the Center-North of the country, favoring first and second crop crops. There was sufficient moisture in the soil for crop development in most areas, except in part of the Northeast and in the North of Minas Gerais. There was also water restriction in some areas of Goi\u00e1s, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, S\u00e3o Paulo, Paran\u00e1, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, due to irregular and poorly distributed rainfall, which affected sowing and the beginning of the development of part of the second crop corn.<\/p>\n

Spectral data show favorable conditions for crop development, especially for first-crop crops. Despite the delay in soybean planting, the vegetation index (VI) of the current crop evolved above the average and that of the previous crop during most of the crop reproductive period. However, in Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Sul, there was a slowdown in the growth of the index of the current crop in December and January, due to the lack of rain and high temperatures. Currently, the index of the current crop shows that the planting of second-crop corn has evolved satisfactorily in most states, and that most crops are developing under favorable conditions.<\/p>\n
The study also shows that the rice harvest is progressing rapidly. Low rainfall and sunny days in the main producing states have contributed to the progress of the operation. Overall, productivity and product quality are good. However, in Rio Grande do Sul, there is heterogeneity in grain quality due to intermittent irrigation and high temperature ranges.<\/p>\n
