BRASILIA (Reuters) - Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said on Monday that he discussed measures that could guarantee the flow of fertilizer imports through Brazil, during a meeting in Brasilia with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, according to Vieira, initiatives were discussed to increase meat exports from Brazil to Russia.<\/p>\n

\u201cRussia supplies approximately a quarter of the fertilizers imported by Brazil. I discussed with Minister Lavrov measures to guarantee the flow of this vitally important input for our agriculture,\u201d said Vieira.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also express our expectation of expanding the number of Brazilian establishments authorized to export products of animal origin to Russia,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian chancellor also stated that he discussed bilateral and international issues with the Russian representative.<\/p>\n

In a statement, also after the meeting, the Russian foreign minister stated that the two countries will make efforts to expand collaboration in the energy sector, especially in peaceful nuclear energy.<\/p>\n

Lavrov said that the two countries are reaffirming constructive cooperation, which, according to him, does not depend on changes in the international situation.<\/p>\n

The meeting between Vieira and Lavrov takes place amid the war between Russia and Ukraine, which began in February last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
