Exports of fresh meat from Paran\u00e1 reached US$1.56 billion between January and April 2025, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) tabulated by the Paran\u00e1 Institute for Economic and Social Development (Ipardes). The volume represents a growth of 20.8% compared to that recorded in the same period of the previous year, when US$1.29 billion were exported.<\/p>\n

The values, which appear in the\u00a0Paran\u00e1 Foreign Trade Newsletter<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>, released this Monday (12), take into account the volume of chicken, pork and beef sold by Paran\u00e1 to other countries.<\/p>\n

Chicken meat represents the largest share of meat exports. US$1.32 billion worth of chicken meat was exported.\u00a0in nature<\/em>, which represents a growth of 14.4% compared to the previous year. The product is the second most exported food by Paran\u00e1, behind only soybeans, with US$ 1.47 billion.<\/p>\n

Fresh pork exports grew by 75.1%, reaching US$1.72 million sold to other countries. Beef exports\u00a0in nature<\/em>\u00a0recorded an increase of 86.5% and reached US$ 60.5 million in the period.<\/p>\n

Considering all products on the list, exports from Paran\u00e1 reached US$1.5 billion, with highlights for soybean meal (US$1.5 billion), raw sugar (US$1.5 billion), cereals (US$1.5 billion), paper (US$1.5 billion), automobiles (US$1.5 billion), plywood (US$1.5 billion) and cellulose (US$1.5 billion). \u201cThe strategy of productive diversification is essential for generating qualified jobs and higher wages, improving the quality of life of the people of Paran\u00e1 and consolidating the robustness of our economy,\u201d said the State Secretary of Planning, Ulisses Maia.<\/p>\n

Countries<\/strong><\/p>\n

In total, products from Paran\u00e1 reached 200 different countries or markets during the first four months of the year. China continues to be the main destination for exports. US$1.74 billion was sold to the Asian country between January and April 2025, representing 23.41 million tons of Paran\u00e1's exports during the period.<\/p>\n

Next are Argentina (US$$ 532 million) and the United States (US$$ 493 million), which, in both cases,<\/p>\n

increased the volume of products purchased from Paran\u00e1. In the case of Argentina, the growth was 72%. In the case of the United States, the increase was 3.8%.<\/p>\n

The increase in trade with these two countries was achieved even in an international scenario marked by the increase in import tariffs by the US government, reinforcing the competitiveness of Paran\u00e1 products.<\/p>\n

According to Ipardes CEO Jorge Callado, the figures show that Paran\u00e1 is also competitive in the production and export of high value-added goods. \u201cOur foreign sales are not restricted to primary products; the trade in sophisticated manufactured items is also relevant,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Imports<\/strong><\/p>\n

Paran\u00e1's imports between January and April 2025 reached US$1.5 billion, closing a balance of US$1.5 million in Paran\u00e1's trade balance in the four-month period.<\/p>\n

Among the most imported products are fertilizers (US$$ 802 million), oils and fuels (US$$ 494 million), organic chemicals (US$$ 456 million), auto parts (US$$ 446 million), pharmaceuticals (US$$ 345 million) and various chemical products (US$$ 274 million).<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
