The Goi\u00e1s State Government is taking another important step forward in its agricultural sustainability agenda by joining the An\u00e1polis Water Producer Program (PPA An\u00e1polis). The initiative aims to increase water supply and quality through practices such as restoring native vegetation, soil conservation, and supporting rural sanitation.<\/p>\n
Conservation actions have already been implemented on approximately 88 hectares in the Ribeir\u00e3o Pianc\u00f3, Rio das Antas and Rio Caldas Hydrographic Basins, located in the municipality of An\u00e1polis (GO).<\/p>\n
By combining economic development with environmental protection, the program recognizes rural producers as key agents in water resource conservation. "It's a structural initiative that combines sustainable production, Cerrado restoration, and water security for the present and the future. Among the participants in the agreement are the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa), State Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad), Goi\u00e1s Agency for Technical Assistance, Rural Extension and Agricultural Research (Emater Goi\u00e1s), Goi\u00e1s Sanitation Company S\/A (Saneago), Municipal Secretariat of Works, Environment and Urban Services of An\u00e1polis and the Environmental Conservation Institute The Nature Conservancy of Brazil (TNC).<\/p>\n

The An\u00e1polis PPA was created to respond to the risks of water deficits faced in the region, which already faced a water supply emergency, as decreed by the Government of Goi\u00e1s in 2021. The basins served by the program are strategic for the city of An\u00e1polis, including the supply of the Agroindustrial District (DAIA), which concentrates an important part of the local economic activity.<\/p>\n
Expected to directly benefit 100 rural properties by 2029, the program includes actions such as the conservation of 1,000 hectares in the Cerrado, ecological restoration of 500 hectares, soil conservation and best agricultural practices on 1,000 hectares, readjustment of 500 kilometers of rural roads and implementation of basic sanitation systems on 100 rural properties.<\/p>\n
One of the program's pioneering properties, Fazenda Tr\u00eas Pontas, has restored the entire area to date, with initiatives such as terracing, well construction, and road improvements. The main objectives of the interventions were to reduce soil erosion, promote water infiltration, and preserve the springs that supply the city and local industry.<\/p>\n
