This relationship between ambiance and animal performance is the focus of the lecture "From Climate to Comfort: How Ambiance Impacts Cows and Productivity," which is part of the program of the 14th Southern Brazil Symposium on Dairy Cattle Farming (SBSBL), sponsored by the Western Center of Veterinarians and Zootechnicians (Nucleovet) and EPAGRI.<\/p>\n
On October 14th, at 4:30 pm, Dr. Frederico M\u00e1rcio Corr\u00eaa Vieira, an animal biometeorology specialist, will lead a presentation at the Pl\u00ednio Arlindo de Nes Culture and Events Center in Chapec\u00f3, Santa Catarina. The presentation aims to demonstrate how the environment can be both an ally and a challenge on the path to sustainable dairy farming.<\/p>\n

In the lecture, Vieira will present how factors related to climate and thermal comfort directly affect the health, well-being, and productivity of dairy cows. Issues such as temperature, ventilation, solar radiation, shading, and facility management will be the focus, demonstrating how the environment can be both a bottleneck and an opportunity to improve production rates.<\/p>\n
The professor will also highlight strategies to minimize heat stress, an increasingly relevant topic in light of climate change and the need for more resilient and sustainable systems.<\/p>\n

Specialist in animal biometerology<\/h4>\n
Frederico Vieira holds a degree in Animal Science from the Federal University of Vi\u00e7osa (UFV), a master's degree, and a doctorate in Agricultural Environmental Physics from ESALQ\/USP. His academic career has focused on the study of ambiance and welfare in animal production. Since 2013, he has coordinated the Animal Biometeorology Study Group (GEBIOMET) and is currently an adjunct professor at UTFPR \u2013 Dois Vizinhos Campus.<\/p>\n
With stints as a visiting professor at institutions in Poland and Portugal, the researcher has established himself as a reference in the analysis of interactions between climatic conditions, the environment, and animal performance.<\/p>\n
