Rio Grande do Sul projects to harvest 21.4 million tons of soybeans in the 2025\/26 summer harvest. The estimate was released during the 15th Official Opening of Soybean Planting, held last Friday (03) in J\u00falio de Castilhos, in the central region of the state. If confirmed, production will be 57.1% higher than that recorded in the previous cycle, of 13.6 million tons, according to data from Emater\/RS-Ascar.<\/p>\n

The projection considers a cultivated area of 6.74 million hectares, a slightly lower figure than the previous harvest, which saw a reduction of 0.8%. Final performance, however, will depend on weather conditions throughout the cycle.<\/p>\n

Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation, Giovani Feltes Brum, highlighted the expectation of recovery: \u201cIf the numbers are confirmed and the weather helps, soybean production could once again put Rio Grande do Sul in the national spotlight in grain production.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

During the event, Giovani Feltes Brum, Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production, and Irrigation, emphasized the expected recovery. "If the numbers hold true and the weather is favorable, soybean production could once again put Rio Grande do Sul at the forefront of national soybean production," he stated.<\/p>\n

Data from\u00a0X-ray of Rio Grande do Sul's Agriculture 2025<\/i>\u00a0indicate that, in irrigated cultivation, the municipalities of S\u00e3o Borja, Cruz Alta, S\u00e3o Luiz Gonzaga, Santa B\u00e1rbara do Sul, and Boa Vista do Cadeado lead production. In dryland cultivation, Palmeira das Miss\u00f5es, Dom Pedrito, Vacaria, Cachoeira do Sul, and S\u00e3o Gabriel are among the main producers.<\/p>\n

In 2024, the Rio Grande do Sul soybean complex generated US$1.5T in exports to 50 countries. The state was the third largest national exporter, with China absorbing 561.5T of the volume, followed by Iran (7.21.5T), South Korea and India (3.71.5T each) and Iraq (3.11.5T).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
