A delegation from the Rio de Janeiro Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply carried out a technical visit last week to the Port of A\u00e7u, in S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o da Barra (RJ), to learn about the terminal's structure and monitor the experimental project for exporting live animals.<\/p>\n

The initiative opens a new chapter for the state's livestock industry, with the potential to strengthen production in Rio de Janeiro and expand access to international markets. The pilot project will be used to adjust protocols, ensure animal welfare, and meet all sanitary requirements. \u201cRio de Janeiro is taking an important step by creating conditions for our producers to access new markets and compete on equal footing with other exporting states. The Port of A\u00e7u can become a major export corridor for Rio de Janeiro's agricultural products,\u201d stated the Secretary of Agriculture, Fl\u00e1vio Campos Ferreira.<\/p>\n
According to Eugenio Figueiredo, CEO of Porto do A\u00e7u, the operation is strategic for increasing the sector's efficiency. "We want to show that producers can use the port to transport their products safely and competitively, guaranteeing access to better prices and greater profitability. Porto do A\u00e7u is a modern and promising alternative for transporting agricultural products," he said.<\/p>\n
The project signals that the state seeks to consolidate its position in livestock exports as well, promoting partnerships with producers and expanding business opportunities in the international market.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
