The Par\u00e1 Green Grain Protocol has just surpassed the milestone of 100 signatories, consolidating itself as one of the country's main initiatives focused on the sustainable production of grains. The agreement, developed by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) in Par\u00e1 in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries (Abiove), the Government of Par\u00e1, the National Association of Cereal Exporters (Anec), Unigr\u00e3os, and other sector entities, establishes guidelines that reconcile sustainability, environmental preservation, and legal security in the production chain.<\/p>\n

According to the latest audit, approximately 96% of the state's soybean production, equivalent to about 3.2 million tons, already complies with the socio-environmental criteria required by the Protocol. \u201cSurpassing the 100 signatory mark is very significant. It shows the strength of this important initiative that brings together companies and the public sector to enable sustainable expansion, guarantee markets, and provide legal security to the grain production chain,\u201d highlights Bernardo Pires, Sustainability Director of Abiove.<\/p>\n
Launched in 2014, the Green Protocol establishes that agricultural production must be free from illegal deforestation, have a regularized Rural Environmental Registry (CAR), be free from embargoes, and respect indigenous lands and conservation units. Furthermore, the agreement seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with agricultural activities and encourage good labor practices, such as combating child and slave labor and promoting occupational health and safety in the field. "This leading role of Par\u00e1, a strategic state for the maintenance of the Amazon biome and host of COP 30, highlights the Green Grain Protocol as an example to be followed by other states," adds Pires.<\/p>\n
Agricultural companies and cooperatives involved in the marketing and financing of grains in Par\u00e1 must follow the criteria defined by the Protocol, which has become a national benchmark in environmental governance and socioeconomic responsibility in agriculture.<\/p>\n
