The second half of October begins with great expectations for the planting of the 25\/26 soybean crop in the Central-West states, but irregular rainfall has generated concern, especially in Goi\u00e1s. According to maps from EarthDaily, soil moisture in the state has not shown significant recovery since the beginning of the month, reaching its lowest level in the last 20 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe level we are seeing for this year, indicated by the dashed black line on the graph, is the lowest in the last two decades, and this is not expected to change much in the next two weeks,\u201d says Felippe Reis, crop analyst at EarthDaily Agro.<\/p>\n

So far, soybean planting in Goi\u00e1s has progressed little, with only 2% to 5% of the planted areas, concentrated mainly in irrigated regions, according to IFAG (Institute for the Strengthening of Agriculture in Goi\u00e1s).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have many cotton producers who need to advance planting in irrigated areas to maintain the ideal window, while others risked planting in dry soil, hoping for rain. Normally, we would already have moisture at this time, but this year the rainfall is more delayed and what is predicted until the end of October is not expected to help much with the progress of planting,\u201d warns Leonardo Machado, technical manager of IFAG.<\/p>\n

In Mato Grosso do Sul, the situation is also worrying. The rainfall recorded throughout October was insufficient to guarantee adequate soil moisture.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn average, in recent years, it usually rains around 117 millimeters in October in Mato Grosso do Sul. However, the forecast for this year is only 35 to 42 millimeters by the end of the month. This raises concerns about soil moisture, which needs to be closely monitored,\u201d comments Felippe Reis.<\/p>\n

In Mato Grosso, conditions vary depending on the region. While municipalities in the north received more significant amounts of precipitation, central, eastern, and southern areas of the state continue to experience low humidity. According to maps from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), the accumulated rainfall for the next seven days indicates that western and northern Mato Grosso should receive between 30 and 80 millimeters, while the east and southeast should register volumes between 10 and 30 millimeters. Goi\u00e1s follows this same average, as do western and northern Mato Grosso do Sul.<\/p>\n

Despite the current scenario, Inmet's quarterly forecast, which considers the period from November 2025 to January 2026, is more optimistic. The forecast indicates above-average rainfall for the region (represented by shades of blue on the maps), with accumulated volumes between 500 and 1,200 millimeters (shades of green).<\/p>\n
