The Brazilian wheat market maintained downward pressure on prices between September and the beginning of October, reflecting the progress of the national harvest, ample international supply, and the cautious stance of mills. In Paran\u00e1, the 60 kg bag closed September at R$ 70.39, a decrease from 7% compared to August, and continued to fall in October, reaching R$ 64.56 in the first half of the month.<\/p>\n
The downward trend is explained by the accelerated pace of the harvest, especially in S\u00e3o Paulo and Paran\u00e1, coupled with the comfortable stock levels of the mills, which have been buying domestic wheat moderately.<\/p>\n

Despite the progress of the harvest, imports remain consistent. In September, Brazil imported 569,000 tons of wheat, with 871,000 tons of 4-ton wheat from Argentina and 71,000 tons of 4-ton wheat from Paraguay. The temporary suspension of Argentine export taxes between September 22nd and 24th further encouraged the entry of foreign wheat into the country.<\/p>\n
Internationally, wheat prices also showed a downward trend. Soft Red Winter in Chicago closed September at 514.64 cents per bushel, down 9.91 TP4T year-on-year, while Hard Red Winter registered a decrease of 13.41 TP4T compared to September 2024. In October, prices continued to decline, reaching their lowest levels since 2020, with trading at 498.50 cents per bushel on the 10th.<\/p>\n
