After the peak of crop outflow, prices for grain freight services fell on important routes in the country in September compared to the values practiced in August. The scenario was verified by the National Supply Company (Conab) in Goi\u00e1s and Mato Grosso do Sul. In addition to these two states, prices also fell in the Federal District and Minas Gerais. Analyses and information on the sector's logistics panorama in the last month are in the October edition of the Logistics Bulletin, released by the state-owned company on Friday (24).<\/p>\n
In Goi\u00e1s, this downward trend follows the state's historical seasonal pattern, as this period is marked by a slowdown in demand for grain transportation. In the Federal District, in addition to the lower movement of grains due to the end of the harvest and the outflow of the second corn crop, other factors influenced the decline, such as operational costs and fuel prices. In the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, there was a gradual cooling of demand for trucks for short-distance transport, even though the transport of cargo in the domestic market remained quite active, absorbing part of the vehicle supply, but not enough to prevent the drop in freight prices with the end of the second corn crop harvest, starting in the second half of the month.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, freight routes in Bahia and Mato Grosso showed variable trends, depending on the grain-producing region. In the Lu\u00eds Eduardo Magalh\u00e3es (BA) market, freight rates remained stable due to a balance between the supply of service providers and the demand for grain and fiber transportation to ports, industries, the poultry sector, and the wholesale sector. In the Paripiranga market, freight rates increased due to higher demand for corn destined for Vit\u00f3ria (ES), Recife (PE), and Feira de Santana (BA), while in the Irec\u00ea market, freight rates fell with the end of the harvest and reduced demand for the service.<\/p>\n
In Mato Grosso, the road freight market has shown some stagnation, with no clear upward or downward trend, with some routes showing moderate increases, while others have demonstrated a price decline. Conab also observed prices close to stability in Piau\u00ed, where grain movements remained regular, registering demand still at satisfactory levels, but with less activity compared to previous months, reflecting the reduction in corn outflow.<\/p>\n
In the states of Maranh\u00e3o, Paran\u00e1, and S\u00e3o Paulo, prices for agricultural freight have increased. In Maranh\u00e3o, an average price increase of around 5% was recorded. Corn was the main product transported during the month, generating greater demand for transport from municipalities in the south of the state to a grain ethanol biorefinery located in Balsas, as well as to farms and industries in the states of Para\u00edba, Pernambuco, Cear\u00e1, and Rio Grande do Norte.<\/p>\n
In Paran\u00e1, the demand for freight was higher compared to August, increasing prices, with the exception of the Ponta Grossa market. In S\u00e3o Paulo, the rise in prices in September compared to August can be explained by the greater demand for Brazilian products, generated by trade problems between the United States and China, which caused major changes in international transport flows.<\/p>\n

Corn shipments in September of this year reached 23.3 million tons, compared to 24.3 million in the same period of 2024. The ports of the Northern Arc remain the main outflow axis for the cereal, representing 42.5% of the movement. Following this, the port of Santos handled 30.7% of the shipped grain, the port of Paranagu\u00e1 11.7%, while the port of S\u00e3o Francisco do Sul registered 9.5% of the shipped volumes.<\/p>\n
Soybean exports reached 89.5 million tons between January and September 2025, compared to 93.8 million tons in the same period last year. 37.51 TP4T of national exports were shipped through the ports of the Northern Arc, while 34.21 TP4T were shipped through Santos. Shipments of the oilseed through the port of Paranagu\u00e1 totaled 12.91 TP4T of the national total, and 5.21 TP4T were shipped through the port of S\u00e3o Francisco do Sul.<\/p>\n
