Wheat harvesting continues at a rapid pace in Paran\u00e1 and is expected to confirm a historic productivity record, even in the face of difficulties imposed by rains during the cycle. Soybeans, with 5.77 million hectares planted, are consolidating as the state's main crop, and corn saw a significant increase in area of approximately 201% of the total area planted. These are the highlights of the report.\u00a0Deral Crop Bulletin\u00a0<\/a>(Department of Rural Economy), of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab) released this Thursday (30). The data are from the October update of the crop forecast.<\/p>\n

To date, 83% of the 819,000 hectares sown with wheat in 2025 have already been harvested, and average yields exceed 3,300 kg per hectare. Hugo Godinho, coordinator of the Conjunctural Division of Deral, highlighted that in areas still in the final stages of harvesting, concentrated mainly in the south of the state, the expectation is for even better results, which should consolidate the highest productivity ever recorded in Paran\u00e1, surpassing the 3,173 kg\/ha achieved in 2016.<\/p>\n

The performance is considered exceptional, especially since some crops faced water shortages, frosts, and lower investment in inputs. Even so, the favorable weather conditions in recent weeks, with more sunny days, have helped dry the grains and boosted the harvest.<\/p>\n

Despite the record yield, the total volume produced will be lower than in other harvests, reflecting a reduction of 25% in the planted area compared to the previous year, which was 1.11 million hectares. \u201cThe estimated production is 2.75 million tons, about 18% higher than in 2024 (2.32 million), but still below the 3.66 million tons of 2023, when Paran\u00e1 reached a volume close to its milling capacity,\u201d explains Godinho.<\/p>\n

Therefore, even with this good result, the harvested volume will not be sufficient to meet the demand of the Paran\u00e1 industry, making it necessary to bring wheat from other states and even other countries to supply the milling sector. As a result, Paran\u00e1 is expected to harvest less wheat than Rio Grande do Sul again, which has regained national leadership in recent years.<\/p>\n

Regarding selling prices, the producer is receiving R$ 64.00 per sack, a price that is below the variable cost of production, which is...<\/p>\n

from R$ 73.00. It is worth noting that, a year ago, the expectation was that the sack would be sold at R$ 76.00.<\/p>\n

Soy<\/strong><\/p>\n

With 5.77 million hectares of planted area, soybeans are consolidating their position as the state's main crop. According to Edmar Gerv\u00e1sio, market analyst at Deral, the 71% of planted area so far is on schedule, with the recent rains aiding plant development. "The remaining planting is concentrated in the cooler areas of the state, with planting expected to be completed in the first half of next month, with favorable weather forecasts for both planting and harvesting. A good harvest, close to a record, is expected," says Gerv\u00e1sio.<\/p>\n

Regarding the price, there haven't been any major fluctuations in the last three months, remaining between R$ 115.00 and R$ 122.00.<\/p>\n

According to the Deral technician, in the national scenario, Conab released its first production estimate this October. "Under normal weather conditions, Brazil should harvest approximately 177.64 million tons of soybeans, a volume 3.6% higher than the previous cycle," he explains.<\/p>\n

Corn<\/strong><\/p>\n

With an expected planting area of 337,800 hectares, the first corn crop saw a significant increase in area, of approximately 201,000 hectares per hectare, due to the reduction in planted area for beans. Corn production could reach 3.5 million tons and even almost 4 million tons. According to Hugo Godinho, if the trend is similar to that observed in the last harvest, considering that Conab projected a good national harvest, there should be a significant increase in area, which could even exceed the area of soybeans.<\/p>\n

The price has remained stable for the last three months, despite being at a level 8% lower than that recorded in the previous cycle, in<\/p>\n

The price of R$ is 52.00, covering the variable cost which is below R$ 40.00. "In terms of price, corn cultivation is experiencing a good moment. As the producer is now deciding what to plant, the obvious choice, because of the price, is that they opt for planting corn," concludes Godinho.<\/p>\n

Fruits and vegetables<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Deral Crop Bulletin also highlights the behavior of potato, tomato, and onion crops. After experiencing growth in the 2024\/2025 season, potatoes show signs of decline for the 2025\/26 season. In the first season, the cultivated area registered a decrease of 5%, going from 17,500 to 16,700 hectares. Production follows the decline, with a reduction of 10%: from 584,200 tons to 527,700 tons. The average yield also decreased, from 33,300 kg\/ha to 31,600 kg\/ha, indicating a loss of productivity\u2014possibly associated with climatic factors.<\/p>\n

The second potato crop shows stability and a slight increase: the area increased from 10,100 to 10,500 hectares compared to 2023\/24, and production rose from 268,100 to 309,200 tons, maintaining a high yield, close to 29,400 kg\/ha.<\/p>\n

The first-crop tomato yield remained stable between the 2024\/25 and 2025\/26 seasons, both in area (2,500 hectares) and production (174,500 t to 171,700 t, a variation of -2%). The average yield increased slightly, from 68,400 kg\/ha to 68,900 kg\/ha, indicating productive efficiency and more adjusted management, even with stability in the planted area.<\/p>\n

The second-crop tomato area showed a slight decrease (-4%), going from 1,800 hectares (2023\/2024) to 1,700 hectares in the 24\/25 crop. Production fell from 125,400 tons to 92,200 tons, corresponding to a decrease of -26%. Yield decreased from 70.1 kg\/ha to 58.0 kg\/ha.<\/p>\n

Second\u00a0<\/strong>Paulo Andrade, an agronomist at Deral, points out that despite representing a small area, the importance of highlighting onion cultivation lies in its relationship to daily consumption. "Onions are the crop showing the greatest negative variation between the two harvests," he says. The planted area fell by 15%, from 3,200 to 2,800 hectares, while production decreased by 17%, from 129,100 tons to 107,600 tons. The average yield fell from 39,800 kg\/ha to 39,000 kg\/ha, a small percentage reduction, but significant in terms of efficiency.<\/p>\n

Current situation<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also on Thursday (30), Deral released the\u00a0Weekly Economic Bulletin<\/a>which highlights the strong performance of several agribusiness production chains in Paran\u00e1, which remain robust even in the face of market fluctuations and changing conditions.\u00a0<\/strong>climate.<\/p>\n

The bulletin provides information on pig farming in Paran\u00e1, which ended October 2025 on a high note, with the best result of the year. The price<\/p>\n

The average price paid to producers for live pigs reached R$ 7.16 per kilogram in September, the highest value recorded in the period. This performance represents a relief after years of difficulties, with a positive margin of R$ 1.39\/kg over the production costs estimated by Embrapa Swine and Poultry, the highest of 2025.<\/p>\n

The document points to improvements in other segments of Paran\u00e1's agribusiness. The dairy sector showed signs of recovery, with imports stabilized compared to 2024 and exports growing, especially whey, whose volume has already exceeded the total of the previous year. The numbers indicate that 2025 will have an import volume close to that observed in 2024.<\/p>\n

In the fruit growing sector, the Weekly Economic Bulletin reports that the sector maintains diversification and economic strength, with particular emphasis on the regions of Paranava\u00ed, Curitiba, Jacarezinho, Corn\u00e9lio Proc\u00f3pio, and Maring\u00e1. Together, they account for almost two-thirds of the Gross Value of Fruit Production in Paran\u00e1, driven by crops such as oranges, strawberries, grapes, and guavas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
