Under the slogan "Meat of the Future," a group of 74 cattle ranchers from Mato Grosso is promoting a silent revolution in the field. United by the goal of producing sustainable meat with complete traceability, the ranchers are adopting regenerative agriculture practices and environmental control systems that promise to add value to Mato Grosso beef and strengthen the image of Brazilian livestock farming abroad.<\/p>\n
Together, the project participants account for approximately 200,000 head of cattle for slaughter\u2014equivalent to 0.1% of the national herd, estimated at 220 million animals. The group's goal is ambitious: to reach 300,000 head by next year, expanding the impact of sustainable actions in the sector.<\/p>\n
Breaking stereotypes<\/strong><\/p>\n Resende emphasizes that transparency is essential to gaining consumer trust. "If other parts of the chain, such as meat processing plants, make it possible to display information about the origin and history of the meat on the packaging, this will generate public engagement and add value to Brazilian production abroad," he states.<\/p>\n According to the spokesperson, 85% of the participating ranchers have already adopted a complete traceability system that allows them to identify the origin of each animal and the type of management applied from birth to slaughter. "Our main objective is for the consumer to have access, on the shelves, to the complete history: where the animals came from, what production model they went through, whether they received antibiotics or vaccines, and what the carbon footprint of that meat is," he explains.<\/p>\n The adoption of a regenerative agriculture model that prioritizes soil balance, animal welfare, and the reduction of environmental impacts is one of the pillars of "Meat of the Future."
