Dairy farming in Mato Grosso is undergoing a transformation. The state reached a production of 432.4 million liters of milk, according to the latest annual survey (2024), consolidating itself as a strategic activity for the state economy, according to the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (IMEA). And to face a competitive market with reduced prices, producers are adopting innovative technologies without abandoning the traditions of the field.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n An example of this transformation is producer Irineu de Paula Ferreira, from Fazenda Santa Laura, in Campo Verde. Fourteen years ago, he started his production with just one cow, which produced 28 liters of milk daily. Today, his farm has 140 Girolando cows, reaching 3,000 liters of milk per day, establishing an efficient and sustainable production model.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Irineu replaced the calf-to-foot system and rotational grazing with a modern confinement system. He implemented solar energy, mechanical milking machines with silicone teat cups that minimize harm to the cows, and an automated feed mill, ensuring balanced nutrition. In addition, the farm performs artificial insemination and embryo transfers, accelerating the genetic improvement of the herd.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The milk produced at Fazenda Santa Laura is destined for a dairy industry located near the municipality, strengthening the local economy and ensuring that the product reaches the consumer fresh and with quality.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe biggest advantage is the quality of life for both the animal and the worker. Before, rotational grazing required a lot of labor and the result was uncertain. Now, with high-precision ventilation, the cow is more comfortable, doesn't get hurt, and produces more milk easily,\u201d explains Irineu.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The growth of farms like Irineu's is stimulated by the Mato Grosso Milk Producers Association (MT Leite), which brings knowledge to various regions of the state through lectures on topics such as "Conseleite-MT in practice" and "The challenges of family succession in milk production," always encouraging producers to innovate and use technologies in the field as a differentiating factor for maintaining and excelling in the activity.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMT Leite was fundamental to the growth of my farm. With the association's support, I was able to implement modern technologies, improve milk production and quality, and learn to manage the property more efficiently,\u201d the producer affirms.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Productivity and innovation<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n With the goal of expanding support for producers, MT Leite has been reinforcing with them the importance of technical assistance provided by partner entities, such as the National Rural Learning Service (Senar-MT) and the Mato Grosso Research, Assistance and Rural Extension Company (Empaer-MT), strengthening technical support actions in the state.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Furthermore, the role of the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) in assisting milk producers who produce cheese stands out, offering technical support, promoting events, and participating in awards that value Mato Grosso cheeses, including at the global level. MT Leite and the milk producers acknowledge the support of all public and private entities that contribute to strengthening the sector.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWith the opening of markets and the entry of milk from Mercosur, it is essential that producers increase efficiency, reduce costs with technology and adapt, otherwise they will be left out of the activity,\u201d warns Ant\u00f4nio Carlos Carvalho de Souza, president of MT Leite.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In addition to productivity, MT Leite encourages innovation with the production of A2A2 milk, which is differentiated by containing only A2 casein protein and is aimed at consumers who may be allergic to A1 beta-casein milk protein.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMato Grosso is already producing A2-A2 milk, which adds value and differentiation in the market,\u201d explains Ant\u00f4nio Carlos, who also highlights the importance of educational campaigns about the benefits of milk. \u201cIt is a fundamental food for bone health and longevity, especially for women, and should be encouraged among young people,\u201d he adds.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Campaign<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n With the motto "From the field to your table, the quality of our milk""<\/strong>MT Leite is conducting a year-end campaign to promote the dairy sector.
