The Mato Grosso Soybean and Corn Producers Association (Aprosoja MT) is participating, for the third consecutive time, in the Conference of the Parties (COP30), held this year in Bel\u00e9m, Par\u00e1. The organization is represented by its vice-president, Luiz Pedro Bier, who also coordinates the association's Sustainability Committee.<\/p>\n
\nDuring the event, the vice-president of Aprosoja MT highlighted the importance of rural producers as protagonists in international discussions addressing sustainability, environmental governance, and the role of tropical agribusiness in mitigating climate change. According to him, closely following the discussions is crucial, especially in light of the new Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) that will be presented at this edition of COP.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThis morning we visited the delegations and learned about the intentions of each country present. We also stopped by the Brazilian stand and, in the afternoon, we were at Casa Abema, at a side event, where we witnessed the signing of a protocol of intent for the jurisdictional network of the State of Mato Grosso. We also had an important conversation with Governor Mauro Mendes,\u201d reported Bier.<\/p>\n
\nAprosoja MT has also been using COP30 to publicize the Soybean Producers' Manifesto Letter for COP30, a document prepared in partnership with the Brazilian Association of Soybean Producers (Aprosoja Brasil). The text, launched on November 6th in Bras\u00edlia, contains 27 pages of proposals aimed at building a sovereign and productive tropical climate agenda.<\/p>\n
\nThe document was developed with the collaboration of Professor and researcher Daniel Vargas, PhD and Master in Law from Harvard University and professor at the Get\u00falio Vargas Foundation (FGV\/Rio), recognized as one of the leading Brazilian experts in sustainability and international law. Among the main proposals is the creation of a National System of Tropical Metrics and Standards, contained in the Tropical Science and Governance section of the manifesto.<\/p>\n
\nAprosoja MT's participation in COP30 reinforces the organization's commitment to contributing to the debate on the role of Brazilian agribusiness in sustainable food production and environmental preservation.
\nIn addition to the technical agendas, Vice President Luiz Pedro Bier will be one of the panelists at Agrizone COP30 \u2013 Grains and Fibers Day, which takes place on Wednesday (November 12th) at 2:30 pm, on the panel \u201cChallenges of Grain and Fiber Production in the face of International Definitions of Sustainability\u201d.<\/p>\n
