Representatives from meat processing industries and importing companies in China learned about the Green Passport program on November 10th and 11th. This pioneering program, created in Mato Grosso, conducts socio-environmental monitoring of the entire cattle and buffalo herd in the state. The initiative reinforces Mato Grosso's livestock industry's commitment to sustainability and meets the demands of the most stringent international markets.<\/p>\n
\nThe program was presented by the Mato Grosso Institute of Meat (Imac) during the Beef Trade Cooperation and Development Conference 2025, held in Yangxin, in the Chinese province of Shandong. The event brought together authorities, businesspeople, and leaders from the meat sector of both countries, expanding the dialogue between Brazil and China \u2014 the largest buyer of Mato Grosso meat.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to Bruno de Jesus Andrade, Projects Director at Imac, the objective of the presentation was to show the international audience the state's progress in traceability and sustainability.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe Green Passport program seeks to strengthen the positive reputation of Mato Grosso's beef supply chain in consumer markets, demonstrating that our production strictly adheres to environmental standards. Furthermore, the program offers an opportunity for producers with outstanding socio-environmental issues to regularize their situation and return to the formal market,\u201d explains Bruno.<\/p>\n
\nDuring the event, the IMAC delegation participated in business meetings with Chinese importers and producers, where they were able to learn about the reality of the local market and its needs. A meeting was also held with the vice-president of the China Meat Association (CMA), where they discussed the work plan for the memorandum of understanding to be signed between the parties in September 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nThe work plan will include activities such as: exchange of technical information, trade missions, and events to raise awareness among exporters and importers about best practices in sustainability and compliance with Brazilian and Chinese legislation.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThrough this cooperation, we will conduct technical visits and seminars aimed at raising awareness among Chinese importers about the sustainability of Mato Grosso's production. In 2026, we will have a series of joint events, with the goal of further expanding this market that already welcomes us so well,\u201d highlighted the director of Imac.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
