The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued a potential danger alert for low air humidity in areas of Mato Grosso do Sul, the north of the state of S\u00e3o Paulo and the Tri\u00e2ngulo Mineiro. The warning started at 11 am this Thursday (27) and remains valid until 6 pm on Friday (28), with forecasts of indices between 20% and 30% \u2014 a level that increases the risk of respiratory problems and requires extra care with hydration and sun protection.<\/p>\n
According to Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology), drier air conditions are affecting municipalities and microregions such as Presidente Prudente, S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 do Rio Preto, Campinas, Ribeir\u00e3o Preto, Ara\u00e7atuba, Bauru, Mar\u00edlia, Araraquara, and Piracicaba in the interior of S\u00e3o Paulo state; the east, southwest, north-central, and Pantanal regions of Mato Grosso do Sul; as well as the Tri\u00e2ngulo Mineiro\/Alto Parana\u00edba, south\/southwest, and west of Minas Gerais. The agency classifies the risk of forest fires and more serious health damage as low, but recommends avoiding physical activity during the hottest hours, humidifying indoor environments, and drinking fluids frequently.<\/p>\n
While the South-Central region faces drier air, the scenario is the opposite in the northern half of the country. Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology) maintains alerts for intense rainfall affecting the North, Northeast, northern Central-West, and the northern part of Minas Gerais. In areas under danger (highest level), the forecast indicates volumes between 50 and 100 mm per day or 30 to 60 mm per hour, accompanied by gusts of 60 to 100 km\/h. In these locations, there is a risk of power outages, falling branches, flooding, and lightning strikes.<\/p>\n
Among the regions under the most severe alert are parts of Bahia (South-Central, North-Central, South and Far West), Tocantins (eastern and western), Par\u00e1 (southeastern and southwestern), Amazonas (central, southern and southwestern), Mato Grosso (northern, northeastern and south-central), Maranh\u00e3o (southern and central), Rond\u00f4nia (eastern) and Acre (Acre Valley), in addition to the Jequitinhonha Valley and northern Minas Gerais.<\/p>\n
There are also areas under potential danger for rain \u2014 with smaller accumulations, up to 50 mm per day or 20 to 30 mm per hour, and winds of 40 to 60 km\/h \u2014 encompassing parts of Par\u00e1, Maranh\u00e3o, Bahia, Piau\u00ed, Tocantins, Amazonas, Roraima, Amap\u00e1, Goi\u00e1s, Esp\u00edrito Santo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, and the Federal District. In these regions, although the risk is considered low, Inmet advises caution regarding possible localized flooding and falling branches.
