Between November 1st and 21st of this year, rainfall in important agricultural areas was irregular and poorly distributed. This condition impacted sowing and the initial development of first-crop plantings in some producing regions of the country. Even so, in general, soil moisture and relatively low maximum temperatures favored the progress of sowing and crop development, including in parts of Matopiba, with increased rainfall towards the end of the period. This analysis is in the Agricultural Monitoring Bulletin (BMA), released this week by the National Supply Company (Conab).<\/p>\n
According to the document, in the Central-West region, the country's main grain-producing area, the rainy season was unstable, with irregular and poorly distributed rainfall in parts of the region. The daily average of soil water storage during the analyzed period still indicated areas with low moisture in southwestern Mato Grosso, the Pantanal, and eastern Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as in southern and northern Goi\u00e1s. However, there was a recovery in water storage throughout the month, favoring the sowing and development of first-crop plantings, especially in areas with greater water retention capacity.<\/p>\n

Rainfall was also irregular in the producing region encompassing areas of Maranh\u00e3o, southwestern Piau\u00ed, western Bahia, and Tocantins (Matopiba). In this area, rainfall intensified only in the third week of the month. Even so, there was a recovery of soil water storage throughout the region, favoring the start of sowing and the development of crops in areas where planting was delayed. However, in parts of Bahia, including areas up to southeastern Piau\u00ed, the high rainfall levels recorded at the end of the analyzed period were not sufficient to increase soil water storage enough to favor the sowing of first-crop plantings.<\/p>\n
In the producing regions of Rond\u00f4nia, Par\u00e1, and Tocantins, rainfall was irregular, keeping soil moisture low in some areas. However, with the recorded rainfall, an increase in soil water storage can be observed throughout the period in these three states. In contrast, in Amazonas, rainfall was frequent and abundant, contributing to maintaining river levels.<\/p>\n
In the Southeast, rainfall was better distributed, with higher accumulations in S\u00e3o Paulo and south-central Minas Gerais. However, areas with low soil moisture are still noticeable in parts of the Tri\u00e2ngulo Mineiro, Northwest, and North of Minas Gerais. On the other hand, lower temperatures reduced soil moisture loss and maintained favorable conditions for the management and development of first-crop cultivation in most areas.<\/p>\n
In the Southern region, the beginning of the month was marked by high rainfall levels, mainly in western Paran\u00e1. These rains were accompanied by gusts of wind, tornado formation, and hail, causing significant damage to some crops. In other areas of the Southern region, the accumulated rainfall from November 1st to 21st was lower and maintained soil water storage at sufficient levels for the development of first-crop cultivation in practically all areas. Considering winter crops, even with the excessive rainfall events, the climate, in general, was favorable for the progress and completion of the harvest.<\/p>\n
