The Governor of Par\u00e1, Helder Barbalho, signed, on Tuesday (02), decree n\u00ba 5.074, which extends the deadline for bovine and buffalo traceability in the state. With the decree, the identification of cattle and buffalo can be done until December 31, 2030. The signing took place during the 64th edition of the Ruralist Meeting, organized by the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Par\u00e1 (FAEPA) and held at the entity's headquarters.<\/p>\n
This measure is being implemented to support the production sector. Previously, producers had until January 1, 2026, to identify their livestock with ear tags (visual and electronic), provided their Animal Transit Guide (GTA) was up to date, and until January 1, 2027, for the complete identification of all cattle and buffalo herds, as established by the decree of the Sustainable Livestock Program of Par\u00e1.<\/p>\n
The new decree considers that the process of individual identification and traceability of cattle and buffalo in the State of Par\u00e1, within the scope of the Par\u00e1 Individual Bovine Traceability System (SRBIPA), constitutes a permanent and systematic activity of the Animal Health Defense actions of the State of Par\u00e1 and that, therefore, its deadlines will be extended.<\/p>\n
The identification of cattle and buffalo moved for any purpose, including slaughter, breeding, raising, fattening, auctions, and export, must occur by December 31, 2030. \u201cWe want to demonstrate productive capacity with integrity, with good practices, and above all, make a strong appeal to the national and international market to value those who produce correctly, sustainably, and responsibly, and this is being done in Par\u00e1. Today, with the extension of these deadlines, we are serving the productive sector and encouraging markets to value those who produce with environmental regularity, adding value and good practices, ensuring this movement: of a State that produces and a State that respects the environment,\u201d stated the governor.<\/p>\n
Sustainable Livestock Farming Program<\/strong><\/p>\n The Sustainable Livestock Program of Par\u00e1 was launched during COP 28 in Dubai and is the largest single traceability initiative in Brazil. The proposal aims to promote a new livestock farming model in the state, reconciling economic development and environmental compliance. Through a partnership between the public and private sectors, it prioritizes high productivity, sanitary safety, transparency, and socio-environmental responsibility in the production chain, aiming for the production of quality meat with animal health and free from deforestation.<\/p>\n The program's objective is to implement animal traceability, one of the cornerstones of verifying the origin of animals, opening up opportunities for the sale of meat produced in Par\u00e1 to demanding international markets, such as the European and Chinese markets, in addition to strengthening consumer confidence. The program's goal is to trace 1,00% of the cattle herd moved in Par\u00e1, now, until December 31, 2030.<\/p>\n Data from the Agricultural Management System (SIGEAGRO) of ADEPAR\u00c1 indicates that Par\u00e1 has the second largest cattle herd in the country, with 26 million head of cattle, and the first in buffalo with 782,000 head of buffalo, more than 70% concentrated in Maraj\u00f3.<\/p>\n With the participation of leaders, producers and representatives of the FAEPA\/SENAR\/FUNDEPEC System, as well as authorities, the 2025 edition of the meeting discusses strategic themes such as the accountability of entities, the results of Agriculture at COP30, the carbon market, the impacts of the expansion of protected areas, tax reform and financing for agriculture.<\/p>\n Rural management and development are also on the agenda, including tax compliance (ITR), logistics, rural health, dairy farming, events fund, land and environmental issues, communication, formal education, energy and public lighting, irrigation, as well as the actions and programs of Senar, PS-JA, FPR, NCR and the strengthening of nuclei and unions, among others of fundamental importance to the sector. \u201cThe idea of bringing together leaders and discussing the subject is precisely to seek the development of the State. Today we have made great progress!
