This is the main highlight of the last\u00a0Subjective Crop Forecast (SCP)\u00a0<\/a>and of\u00a0Economic Bulletin<\/a>\u00a0of the year, released by the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab).<\/p>\n Surveys indicate a producer who is attentive to the current situation, focused on production efficiency, strategic adjustments to land area, and decisions that are increasingly aligned with weather conditions and market signals.<\/p>\n As the last survey of the year, the December PSS plays a strategic role in presenting the first estimates for the second crop of 2025\/2026, especially for corn and beans. The data show stability in the areas of the first crop and confirm, in the second crop, the consolidation of corn as an expanding crop, which occurs with a reduction in the area of beans.<\/p>\n The trend indicated is a continuous strengthening of corn, which should establish itself in the coming years as the main crop in Paran\u00e1 in terms of volume produced, approaching and even surpassing soybeans, which remain the basis of the first harvest.<\/p>\n The strength of corn is directly linked to increased demand. Beyond its traditional use as feed in the poultry, swine, cattle, and fish farming industries, the grain stands out for its high productivity per hectare and wide versatility in industrial applications, which expands its market opportunities.<\/p>\n Preliminary estimates from PSS indicate growth of approximately 1% in the area planted with second-crop corn, which should reach around 2.84 million hectares, consolidating a new state record. Production is currently estimated at approximately 17.4 million tons, a high volume, although slightly lower than the exceptional harvest of the previous cycle, of 17.63 million tons.<\/p>\n Deral emphasizes that the final result will depend on the performance of the soybean crop in the coming weeks, especially in the western part of the state, as the smooth progress of the harvest contributes to better utilization of the corn planting window.<\/p>\n Soybeans, even in the face of specific weather challenges and a longer cycle in some regions, maintain expectations of good productivity in most of Paran\u00e1. The first corn crop also shows promising performance, benefiting from its longer cycle and greater responsiveness to weather conditions, which reinforces the prospect of above-average results.<\/p>\n Cassava continues to be a highlight in Paran\u00e1's agricultural sector. Paran\u00e1 leads national production destined for industry, while Par\u00e1 excels in total volume, mainly for human consumption. Initial expectations were for high production, based on good productivity, but a drier period hampered harvesting and led to adjustments in the area actually harvested, with some crops maintained for two cycles.
