The Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (ABIEC) closes 2025 with a historic balance for Brazilian beef, marked by significant export growth, expansion of international presence, and structural advances for the sector. In the accumulated period from January to November, Brazil exported 3.15 million tons, an increase of 18.31% compared to the same period in 2024, with revenue of US$16.18 billion, a growth of 37.5% of the total. This partial performance already surpasses the total volume and value exported in 2024, consolidating 2025 as one of the most significant years in the historical series.<\/p>\n
The expectation is that the country will end the year with almost 3.5 million tons exported and approximately US$17 billion in revenue, setting records in both volume and value. This result reflects not only the recovery of global demand, but also a more strategic approach by the Brazilian industry, with an expanded institutional presence, diversification of destinations, and a strengthened image of Brazil as a reliable supplier of beef protein.<\/p>\n
One of the most significant milestones of 2025 was Brazil's recognition as a foot-and-mouth disease-free country without vaccination, granted by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WHO). This new sanitary status represents a historic advance for the national livestock industry, raising the country's international credibility and expanding its potential access to more demanding markets, with a direct impact on competitiveness, predictability, and added value to exports.<\/p>\n

Even in the face of a challenging international scenario, with episodes such as the tariffs imposed by the United States and safeguard investigations conducted by China, ABIEC maintained a strong international presence, actively participating in technical, diplomatic, and governmental meetings in Brazil and abroad. Throughout the year, the association participated in meetings with Itamaraty (Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs), MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade), and foreign authorities, as well as meetings in Washington with representatives from the USDA, MICA (Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Services), and sectoral entities, and frequent interactions with Chinese authorities, reinforcing technical and institutional dialogue.<\/p>\n
The trade promotion agenda was another pillar of the 2025 performance. ABIEC held eight Brazilian Beef Dinners, five Brazilian Beef Business Rounds, and three editions of The Beef and Road, in addition to expanding its participation in trade fairs and business missions around the world. In total, there were 39 international actions in 23 countries, with a focus on Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. The opening of ABIEC's office in Beijing reinforced the strategy of a permanent presence in key markets and brought the sector even closer to the main decision-making and consumption centers.<\/p>\n
In the technical area, 2025 was marked by concrete advances in opening and expanding markets for Brazilian beef. Throughout the year, new destinations were opened, such as the Solomon Islands, Bahamas, El Salvador, Vietnam, Guatemala, Suriname, Kenya, Bhutan, Tanzania, and Azerbaijan, the latter for heat-processed products. Furthermore, markets that already had bilateral agreements defined specific sanitary certification models in 2025, such as Papua New Guinea, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Malaysia Sarawak, and the United Arab Emirates, increasing the predictability and legal security of exports.<\/p>\n

There was also an expansion of scope in strategic markets, with authorization for new products, including offal and bone-in meat, in destinations such as Morocco, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Israel, broadening the Brazilian export portfolio and adding value to operations. Simultaneously, ABIEC monitored a significant volume of international audits at meat processing plants, involving more than 170 units audited throughout the year by authorities from countries such as China, the United States, the European Union, Japan, Mexico, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, and Tanzania, reinforcing the high sanitary, industrial, and traceability standards of the Brazilian supply chain.<\/p>\n
In the field of institutional communication, 2025 marked a consistent repositioning of ABIEC, with a strengthened public presence of the sector and greater responsiveness to strategic issues. Throughout the year, the association produced more than 100 press releases, gave approximately 150 interviews, and issued more than 50 official statements, increasing the visibility of Brazilian beef. The new ABIEC website and the Brazilian Beef brand, available in four languages, coupled with an average of 200,000 monthly views on social media, reinforced the reach of the information, as did the launch of the Beef Report in Spanish and Mandarin, in addition to Portuguese and English.<\/p>\n
The sustainability agenda gained prominence in 2025, with ABIEC's participation in various actions, studies, and events, including active involvement in COP30 in Bel\u00e9m, bringing topics such as traceability, decarbonization, and food security to the international debate. This involvement was reinforced by the launch of the Beef Report Sustainability \u2013 COP30 Special and by ABIEC's approval as a Participating Partner of the FAO LEAP Partnership, a recognition that consolidates the entity's international technical dialogue and the sector's commitment to science-based approaches, harmonized metrics, and sustainable production.<\/p>\n
According to the president of ABIEC, Roberto Perosa, the 2025 performance demonstrates the resilience and maturity of the sector. \u201cThe 2025 performance was extraordinary. After a very positive 2024, we managed to expand volume, value, and international presence. Even with temporary impacts, such as the US tariff increase, the industry responded quickly, showed resilience, and emerged even stronger. Normalization restored predictability and reinforced Brazil's role as an indispensable supplier in the global supply of beef,\u201d he states.<\/p>\n

The 2025 results also reflect the joint efforts of ABIEC, its member companies, and the public sector. The partnership with ApexBrasil, through the Brazilian Beef Sector Project, was fundamental in strengthening the commercial promotion and international presence of the product. The association also maintained a permanent dialogue with the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock, Development, Industry, Trade and Services, and Foreign Affairs, in addition to institutional interaction with the Parliamentary Agricultural Front, reinforcing the necessary coordination for the advancement of the export agenda.<\/p>\n
For 2026, ABIEC's assessment is optimistic with realism. The expectation is for stability at a high level, after two consecutive years of strong growth. At the same time, the environment is considered favorable for advancing the agenda of access to strategic markets. \u201cWe enter 2026 with active negotiations and a concrete prospect of advancing in markets such as Japan, South Korea, and Turkey, which have high potential and are being worked on technically and continuously, in partnership between the private sector and the government. The vision is for more qualified growth, with predictability, competitiveness, and greater added value,\u201d concludes Perosa.<\/p>\n
Abiec brings together 47 companies responsible for 98% of beef exported by Brazil and works to defend, promote and expand access for Brazilian products to international markets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
