The Brazilian chicken, pork, and egg supply chains ended 2025 with record performance in production, domestic consumption, and exports. Projections from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) indicate records in virtually all indicators, consolidating the year as a milestone for the sector and establishing a foundation for growth in 2026. Even in the face of specific logistical challenges throughout last year, the association's president, Ricardo Santin, assessed that productive resilience and international competitiveness sustained the results.<\/p>\n
Brazilian chicken meat production in 2025 is expected to total 15.320 million tons, a growth of 2.21% compared to 2024, when 14.972 million tons were produced. For 2026, ABPA projects further expansion, with volumes potentially reaching up to 15.600 million tons, an increase of 21% compared to 2024.<\/p>\n

In foreign trade, after shipping 5.295 million tons in 2024, the sector is on track to export up to 5.32 million tons in 2025, with estimates to increase to 5.5 million tons this year. "The projected growth is 0.51 TP4T, accelerating to 3.41 TP4T in 2026, reflecting strong international demand and Brazilian competitiveness," Santin emphasized.<\/p>\n
Despite the positive projection, the accumulated data between January and November 2025 showed a slight decrease in shipments, which totaled 4.813 million tons, 0.71% below that recorded in the same period of 2024. Accumulated revenue up to November reached US$8.842 billion, a decrease of 2.5% compared to US$9.071 billion of the previous year. "Part of the fluctuation observed at the end of the year was related to operational obstacles in certain Brazilian ports," he explained.<\/p>\n
Among the destinations, the United Arab Emirates led purchases in 2025, with 433,800 tons shipped up to November, a growth of 2.11% of the total export volume. Next were Japan, with 367,400 tons, Saudi Arabia, with 362,600 tons, South Africa, with 288,600 tons, and Mexico, with 238,200 tons. Looking at individual states, Paran\u00e1 maintained its leadership as the main exporter, with 1.915 million tons, followed by Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, S\u00e3o Paulo, and Goi\u00e1s.<\/p>\n
Domestic market booming<\/b><\/p>\n
Domestic availability of chicken meat increased in 2025, rising from 9.678 million tons to 9.98 million tons, a variation of 3.11 TP4T. For 2026, the projection points to an increase of 1.21 TP4T, potentially reaching 10.1 million tons. "This growth should directly reflect an increase in national consumption," Santin emphasized.<\/p>\n

Per capita consumption followed this trend, rising from 45.5 kilograms per inhabitant in 2024 to 46.8 kilograms in 2025, with expectations of reaching approximately 47.3 kilograms in 2026. "The growth in domestic consumption reinforces the importance of chicken meat as an accessible protein for the Brazilian consumer, especially in challenging economic scenarios," emphasized the president of ABPA.<\/p>\n
Santin also highlights that the numbers reflect the resilience of the production chain, which has been investing in efficiency, technology, and animal welfare to meet both domestic and international demands. "Chicken will continue to be a staple on Brazilian tables and a strategic component of agricultural exports in the coming years," he emphasized.<\/p>\n
Egg production<\/b><\/p>\n
Brazilian egg production is expected to reach 62.25 billion units in 2025, a 7.91% increase compared to the 57.683 billion units produced in 2024. For 2026, further expansion is expected, with production potentially reaching 66.5 billion units, a 6.81% increase over the previous year. \u201cWe are seeing a sector growing on solid foundations. The modernization of farms, technological advancements, and the professionalization of management are driving its sustainable expansion,\u201d stated Santin.<\/p>\n

Exports from the sector are expected to reach up to 40,000 tons in 2025, representing a growth of 116.61 TP4T compared to the 18,469 tons shipped in 2024. For 2026, further progress is expected, with up to 45,000 tons exported, 12.51 TP4T more than the volume projected for last year. In the accumulated period from January to November 2025, shipments already totaled 38,637 tons, an increase of 135.41 TP4T compared to the same period of the previous year, with revenue of US$92.130 million, a balance 163.51 TP4T higher compared to the first eleven months of 2024, with US$34.965 million. \u201cThe world is discovering Brazilian eggs. We have scale, sanitary quality and competitiveness. It is a market that tends to grow and in which Brazil has an advantage,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n
Among the main destinations were the United States, Japan, Chile, Mexico, Angola, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Sierra Leone, Ecuador, and the European Union. "Egg export volumes continue at a high rate compared to previous years, now with new high-value-added destinations, which is favoring the profitability of shipments," assesses the president of ABPA.<\/p>\n

For this year, the projection points to 307 units per inhabitant, a number 71% higher than that recorded last year. \u201cThe egg has established itself as a nutritious, accessible protein present on the plates of Brazilian families. This recognition is reflected in the increase in consumption year after year. If the projections are confirmed, Brazil should end 2025, for the first time, among the ten largest per capita consumers of eggs in the world,\u201d Santin emphasized.<\/p>\n With expanded production, more than doubled exports, and strong growth in domestic consumption, 2025 is shaping up to be a key year for the consolidation of the sector in Brazil. And, unlike other supply chains that face cyclical fluctuations, the egg segment should maintain this pace in 2026 as well. \u201cThe sector is prepared for a prolonged cycle of expansion. We are delivering more, exporting more, and supplying the country better. The trend is that 2026 will reaffirm this growth curve,\u201d reinforced the president of ABPA.<\/p>\n Pork enters a new cycle of expansion.<\/b><\/p>\n The pork supply chain also showed impressive results in 2025, initiating a new expansion cycle that should extend into 2026. ABPA points to a continuous increase in the country's relevance in the global market and to the consolidation of pork as a strategic component of the food industry in Brazil.<\/p>\n National production is expected to reach up to 5.55 million tons, an increase of 4.61% compared to 2024. For this year, ABPA estimates growth of 2.71%, potentially reaching 5.7 million tons. The sector's expansion is also strongly driven by international sales. ABPA estimates ending 2025 with 1.49 million tons and projects further growth to up to 1.55 million tons in 2026. "If the 2025 projection is confirmed, Brazil could become the 3rd largest pork exporting country in the world," Santin added.<\/p>\n Among the main destinations for Brazilian pork last year were the Philippines, China, Chile, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, Vietnam, Uruguay, and Argentina. ABPA indicates that international demand should remain strong, keeping Brazil among the main global suppliers of pork, especially to Asian and Latin American markets. "The combination of supply chain competitiveness, increasingly stable costs, and market opening has been strengthening Brazil as one of the main global players in pork protein," mentioned Santin.<\/p>\n Among the main exporting states, Santa Catarina maintains its leadership, followed by Rio Grande do Sul, Paran\u00e1, Minas Gerais, and Mato Grosso.<\/p>\n Internal availability<\/b><\/p>\n Even with strong demand from the foreign market, the availability of pork in the domestic market should also grow. The volume available to the Brazilian consumer should close the year with an increase of 2.7%, which represents 4.06 million tons in 2025. For this year, ABPA estimates growth of 2.2%, potentially reaching 4.15 million tons. "These projections reinforce that the domestic supply will continue to expand without compromising the balance with exports," Santin pointed out.<\/p>\n Consumption reaches 19 kg\/inhabitant\/year <\/b><\/p>\n Per capita consumption also follows this growth trend, reaching 19 kilograms in 2025, an increase of 2.31% of the previous year. And for 2026, projections indicate that consumption should reach up to 19.5 kilograms, a growth of 2.51% of the previous year, reflecting more competitive prices, a greater variety of cuts, and the advancement of pork in retail and food service channels.<\/p>\n Positive scenario<\/b><\/p>\n The president of ABPA (Brazilian Association of Animal Protein) believes that the challenge for the country will be to maintain productivity, animal health, and logistical efficiency to keep pace with the projected expansion and sustain the capacity to simultaneously supply the domestic and international markets. \u201cAfter a period marked by strong turbulence, the Brazilian animal protein chain demonstrated adaptability and ended 2025 with consistent progress in production, export, and per capita consumption indicators for chicken, pork, and eggs.
