The 2025\/26 Brazilian soybean crop has been marked by a series of agronomic challenges ranging from irregular rainfall to the high incidence of Asian soybean rust and increased management interventions due to weed pressure. Given this context, the Brazilian Soybean Strategic Committee (CESB) has decided to postpone the start of registrations for the National Maximum Soybean Productivity Challenge to February 27th.<\/p>\n
The Challenge is structured in two categories: rainfed and irrigated. In the rainfed category, regional champions from the five major producing regions of the country will be recognized: Central-West, South, Northeast, North, and Southeast. In the irrigated category, the national champion will be directly determined. Among all the winners, the highest score will be crowned the grand champion of CESB.<\/p>\n
The registration fee is R$150.00 for non-sponsored participants, while producers who indicate CESB sponsors will have free registration. The Challenge regulations and support guides for completing the agronomic modules are already available on the Committee's official website.<\/p>\n
Over the past few harvests, the results obtained by the participants in the Challenge show a consistent increase in productivity. In the most recent edition, all producers ranked in the TOP 10 surpassed the mark of 120 sacks per hectare, a level that until a few years ago was considered unlikely.<\/p>\n
According to Luiz Silva, executive director of CESB, the numbers reflect the Challenge's role as a strategic tool for technology transfer. "This scenario reinforces the Committee's commitment to establishing new levels of productivity, creating a stimulating environment for learning, innovation, and technical exchange," he states.<\/p>\n
With a presence in all producing regions, the CESB Challenge registers, on average, around 5,000 entries per harvest, covering approximately 12% of the best soybean growing areas in the country. "This allows us to build a high-performance technical portrait of Brazilian soybean farming," adds Silva.<\/p>\n
More than a competition, the Challenge is defined by the president of CESB, Daniel Glat, as a structured program for generating and disseminating agronomic knowledge. \u201cWe work with real field results, audited by a patented protocol, which includes georeferencing, technical reports, photographic records, and certification. This guarantees the credibility of the data and reinforces the commitment to efficient production, with low environmental impact and high social responsibility,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n
According to Sergio Abud, vice-president of CESB, the Committee maintains its mission in this edition to stimulate productivity gains in a sustainable way. \u201cIn the 18th edition, the productivity benchmark will remain around 100 sacks per hectare, considered adequate at the moment. However, there are already studies evaluating a possible increase in this benchmark in future editions, following the technical evolution of the results,\u201d he emphasizes.<\/p>\n
The rigor of the audits is one of the pillars of the Challenge. According to Lorena Moura, technical coordinator of CESB, the entire process follows a standardized and patented protocol, applied in the same way in all regions of the country. "The audits are fully monitored by an auditor, with photographic documentation recording the date, time, and geographic coordinates," she explains.<\/p>\n
She adds that the harvested grain load is covered with tarpaulins, sealed, and escorted to the scale, in addition to monitoring the classification of the grains regarding impurities, moisture, and thousand-grain weight (TGW). At the end, producers and consultants receive a complete report with management information and productivity results for the audited area.<\/p>\n
Audits may be initiated until April 15, 2026, and the final results will be released during the National Forum on Maximum Soybean Productivity, scheduled for July 2026. The event has established itself as an important indicator of the technological evolution of Brazilian agribusiness and the ability of producers to increase productivity with socio-environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n
Upon completion of the Challenge, all participants will receive a detailed technical report of the audited areas, as well as a Certificate of Participation, with their respective national, regional, and state rankings.
