SAO PAULO, Jan 30 (Reuters) \u2013 The soybean harvest in Mato Grosso for the 2025\/26 season advanced to 24.97% of the planted area in the week ending January 30, a pace above the 12.20% observed a year earlier and also higher than the average levels of the last five years, according to data from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) released this Friday.<\/p>\n
The weekly advance was 11.09 percentage points, maintaining the accelerated harvest of the 2025\/26 crop in all regions of the state. The historical average is 12,571 TP4T for this time of year. The harvest is most advanced in the Mid-North (35,411 TP4T) and in the west (36,701 TP4T) of the state, the largest agricultural producer in Brazil.<\/p>\n
While farmers in Mato Grosso are harvesting soybeans, they are also already planting corn and cotton for the second crop.<\/p>\n
Corn planting for the 2025\/26 season reached 15,591 TP4T of the area in Mato Grosso by January 30th, a significant increase compared to the 6,261 TP4T recorded in the same period last year.<\/p>\n
The annual increase is 9.33 percentage points, while the weekly advance was 7.83 pp, but the pace is still below the historical average for the period, of just over 20% of planted area.<\/p>\n
Cotton planting in Mato Grosso reached 67,75% of the area on January 30, an increase compared to the 53,48% recorded on the same date in 2025 and against a historical average of almost 60%, according to Imea.<\/p>\n
