Cotton producers in Region I of Mato Grosso do Sul have until March 2nd to register their cultivated areas with the State Agency for Animal and Plant Health Defense (Iagro). This requirement is stipulated in a state resolution and must be met within the established deadline.
\nThe South Mato Grosso Cotton Producers Association (Ampasul), a representative entity of the sector, emphasizes that registration is mandatory and warns of the need to pay attention to the schedule in order to avoid penalties.<\/p>\n
\nThis measure is part of the prevention and control actions against the cotton boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis, considered the main cotton pest and difficult to manage, with a high potential to cause damage to the crop.
\nAccording to the regulation, electronic registration must be completed within 30 days after the end of the official planting calendar. In Region I, the deadline for sowing ended on January 31st, which establishes March 2nd as the deadline for registering the areas.<\/p>\n
\nFailure to comply may result in the suspension of tax incentives and the application of penalties provided for in state plant health protection legislation.<\/p>\n
\nPhytosanitary standards<\/strong><\/p>\n \nCurrently, Mato Grosso do Sul has approximately 30,000 hectares cultivated with cotton.
