Activities in the second corn crop fields continue to advance across Brazil. According to Conab's crop monitoring data, as of last Saturday (21), 46.7% of the safrinha areas had already been sown.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The index rose from 32.2% recorded last week, but remains behind the 53.6% of the same period in 2025 and the 53.2% average of the last five years.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
So far, Mato Grosso has sown 70.4% of the area, Tocantins 60%, Paran\u00e1 30%, Goi\u00e1s 28%, Maranh\u00e3o 27%, Piau\u00ed 25%, Minas Gerais 20.5% and Mato Grosso do Sul 19%. Approximately 28% of the area is still in the emergence phase and 72% has already advanced to vegetative development.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the same time, harvesting of the summer crop continues to advance, rising from 14.9% last week to 20.5%. This index is lower than last year's 20.9% and the 5-year average of 22.2%.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
So far, Rio Grande do Sul has harvested 68% of the area, Paran\u00e1 25%, Santa Catarina 22%, Bahia 5%, and S\u00e3o Paulo 4%. The other states have not yet started harvesting. Meanwhile, 23.7% of the areas are already maturing, 33.2% are in grain filling, 9.5% are flowering, 12.2% are in vegetative development, and 0.9% are still emerging.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Conab technicians highlight that planting has progressed in Mato Grosso, with rainfall favoring the development of the cereal, while the return of rains has also benefited activities in Mato Grosso do Sul.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In Paran\u00e1, the dry weather this week allowed planting to progress, but prevented operations from continuing in some regions with water limitations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Imea (Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics) released a report providing updates on the corn harvest in the state. The survey highlights that the planting of the 2025\/26 corn crop has reached 66,33% of the estimated area in Mato Grosso.\u00a0<\/p>\n
"The more stable weather across most of the state contributed to an improved pace of activities throughout the week," explain the technicians from Imea.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, even with progress in the last week, corn planting in Mato Grosso fell below that recorded in the same period of the previous harvest, with a delay of 0.82 pp. This scenario is associated with the slower pace observed in the Southeast and Northeast regions of the state, which reached 42.00% and 56.82% of the planted area, respectively, delays of 14.28 pp and 5.89 pp, in that order, compared to the previous cycle,\u201d the report adds.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Department of Rural Economy (Deral) of the Paran\u00e1 State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply also released its weekly report detailing weather and cultivation conditions for the state's main crops. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Planting of the second crop in the state has progressed, reaching 45% of the estimated total. To date, 65% of the area has already progressed to vegetative development and 35% is still in germination, with 97% of the crops classified as being in good condition and 3% in average condition. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the same time, the summer crop harvest accounts for 42% of area, with the remaining crops divided between 68% in maturation, 31% in fruiting and 1% in flowering. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
"The planting of the second corn crop is progressing as soybean areas are cleared, although at an uneven pace due to the irregular distribution of rainfall in some locations. The planted crops show good germination and initial development, although there are reports of pest occurrences, especially leafhoppers and caterpillars, requiring attention to management. Recent rainfall has been important for the establishment of newly sown areas," assess the technicians from Deral.\u00a0<\/p>\n
"The first corn crop is being harvested or is already well advanced in some regions, with varying yields, but generally within expectations, despite some isolated losses associated with localized weather events.
