The Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab), released this Thursday (26) the\u00a0Economic Bulletin<\/a>\u00a0with updated data from the last week of February. Among the highlighted topics, the survey indicates that Paran\u00e1 has consolidated its position, among Brazilian states, as the largest exporter of purebred breeding pigs.<\/p>\n

In 2025, Paran\u00e1 was responsible for 62.1% of the national export revenue of high genetic value swine (US$1.087 million), with Paraguay as the main destination for this material. This performance reinforces the health and technological standard of the Paran\u00e1 herd, which serves markets such as Argentina, Uruguay, and Bolivia. "This choice of Paran\u00e1 shows, once again, that the state has cutting-edge genetics and herd health," highlights veterinarian and Deral analyst, Priscila Marcenovicz.<\/p>\n

Still within the livestock sector, the report highlights Brazilian beef exports, which reached 258,940 tons, an increase of more than 25% compared to the same month last year.<\/p>\n

There is concern regarding the Chinese import quota, set at 1.1 million tons. In January alone, more than 10% of this quota was already used, which could cause price variations throughout the year. However, other important markets continue to increase their purchases of Brazilian beef. In the domestic market, most beef cuts surveyed by Deral have increased in price, especially filet mignon, which has accumulated a 17% increase in one year.<\/p>\n

In broiler farming, the scenario is one of positive margins for producers in Paran\u00e1. The cost of live chicken production ended 2025 at R$ 4.65\/kg, a decrease of 2.9% compared to the previous year, driven mainly by the decline in feed prices (-8.92TP4T). At the end of the year, the average price received by the producer (R$ 4.92\/kg) was 4.2% above the average annual cost, preserving profitability in a sector that leads meat exports in Brazil.<\/p>\n

The bulletin also addresses the crop estimate figures, based on the report of Subjective Crop Forecast<\/a>, which highlights the updated corn planting area.<\/p>\n

In the grain sector, soybean production is on track for a robust harvest, maintaining the estimate of 22.12 million tons for the 2025\/26 cycle. To date, fieldwork has reached 371 TP4T of the 5.77 million hectares planted, a pace considered within historical norms. Maintaining this projection provides security to the production sector, although the progress of the oilseed harvest is being closely monitored, as it dictates the planting pace of the second corn crop and helps mitigate climatic risks during the planting window.<\/p>\n

Corn also plays a central role in the monthly balance, with a forecast of reaching 21.1 million tons in the sum of the two harvests. The first harvest has already reached 421 TP4T of the area harvested, while the planting of the second harvest has reached 451 TP4T of the 2.86 million hectares projected. The large area destined for the cereal in the second cycle supports the prospect of high production, guaranteeing supply for the animal protein chain, despite direct competition with soybeans for the schedule of use of agricultural areas.<\/p>\n

According to Deral analyst Edmar Gervasio, the timing is good. \u201cWe are seeing a recovery in planted area. Compared to the previous period, we've had an increase of over 20% in terms of area. It's been a long time since we've seen an increase in area in the first crop because soybeans are always the main crop in the first summer cycle. This year, there was a reversal. Corn gained ground, especially in the first crop. And productivity has been very good. We should harvest around 3.6 million tons in the first crop, and this number could improve,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In contrast to the stability of soybean cultivation, the bean crop is raising concerns due to a sharp reduction in planted area. The February survey indicates a decrease in the area planted with the second crop compared to the previous year. According to Carlos Hugo Godinho, agronomist and analyst at Deral, this reduction reflects a cautious move by producers, who are currently seeking crops with more predictable management costs.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor producers, the scenario is one of firm prices, which may compensate for the lower harvest volume. For consumers, even with price fluctuations, the increase has been gradual, and retailers still have stocks that cushion the immediate pass-through. The recommendation is for consumers to shop around, as black beans, for example, are still much more affordable than at the same time last year,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
