Entities that are part of the Agro MT Forum took the demand to the vice-governor Otaviano Pivetta and the Secretary of State for Finance, Rog\u00e9rio Gallo, amidst a scenario of low profitability, high costs and losses in part of the agricultural activities.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion was based on data presented by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), which points to the weight of the fund on the producer&#039;s margin, including in crops and systems that operate with negative results. In soybeans, for example, the 2023\/24 harvest closed with a net loss of R$ 220.51 per hectare, even with the incidence of R$ 152.40 per hectare of Fethab. For 2026\/27, the estimate is a cost of R$ 189.12 per hectare, more than double the projected net profit of R$ 85.48\/ha.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe same behavior appears in other activities. In corn, the projection for 2025\/26 indicates a loss of R$163.11 per hectare, even with a collection of R$102.21\/ha of Fethab. In the soybean plus corn system, the estimate for 2026\/27 is a negative result of R$77.62\/ha, with a collection of R$291.33\/ha for the fund. In cotton, despite the positive margin, the cost of Fethab is high, at R$328.23 per hectare, compared to an estimated net profit of R$671.70\/ha. In livestock, the pressure also affects narrow margins. In breeding, the projected profit for 2025 is only R$19.06\/ha, while Fethab would consume R$9.77\/ha.<\/p>\n<p>The president of Famato, Vilmondes Tomain, stated that the sector&#039;s main demand is the non-renewal of Fethab 2, although the possibility of immediate suspension of the collection was also presented to the government. According to him, the request represents a plea from the entire agricultural sector of the state. &quot;Today, our demand is for the non-renewal of Fethab 2. He added that the sector is now awaiting a formal position from the government regarding the presented request.<\/p>\n<p>Vice-Governor Otaviano Pivetta signaled openness to discussing the issue, but cautioned that any decision will need to respect the state&#039;s fiscal capacity and existing commitments. &quot;We will review everything that needs to be reviewed to assist the sector that sustains the state,&quot; he stated. At the same time, he emphasized that Fethab (State Fund for Transportation and Housing) has financed a significant portion of the logistical infrastructure in recent years and that the debate will need to consider the continuity of these projects.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary Rog\u00e9rio Gallo presented a summary of the application of the fund&#039;s resources and stated that, since 2019, Fethab has been exclusively directed towards infrastructure investments. According to him, the State has already delivered more than 6,200 kilometers of new asphalt, with a forecast to exceed 7,000 kilometers this year, in addition to 3,700 kilometers of restored highways, 261 completed concrete bridges, and new structures under construction or in the bidding process. Even so, he stated that the government is attentive to the sector&#039;s situation and willing to evaluate the demands presented by agricultural entities.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe president of the Sorriso Rural Union, Diogo Damiani, also reinforced the request for relief for the sector by presenting figures from the municipality, the largest grain producer in the state. \u201cThe producer has already gone beyond the limit. In Sorriso, even with an average productivity of 67 sacks per hectare, Fethab [a tax on agricultural products] currently consumes about 40% [amount in tons] of the net margin of soybeans.
