A mission from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock began last Monday (23), in China, a round of negotiations with local authorities to discuss the phytosanitary inspection rules applied to Brazilian soybeans. The agenda was opened after exporters reported difficulties in obtaining the certificates required for shipments to the Asian country.<\/p>\n

According to the Brazilian government, recent changes to the inspection process, adopted at the request of Chinese authorities, have raised the level of requirements and have begun to hinder some export flows. The issue has gained traction in recent days following public disagreements about a possible relaxation of these rules.<\/p>\n

Last week, Agriculture Minister Carlos F\u00e1varo stated that Brazil has not relaxed any inspections of soybeans destined for China. The statement was a response to reports suggesting changes in sanitary standards.<\/p>\n

On Friday (20), a new publication indicated that Chinese authorities had decided to relax parameters related to the presence of weeds in Brazilian cargo. The Ministry of Agriculture, however, denied that there is a decision on the subject and stated that the negotiations are still in the initial phase.<\/p>\n

According to the ministry, negotiations are expected to continue throughout the week and include the participation of the Secretary of Agricultural Defense, Carlos Goulart, and the Secretary of Trade and International Relations, Luis Rua. The goal is to align technical procedures and reduce operational obstacles to exports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
