The rise in the price of diesel and fertilizers, a reflection of the war in the Middle East, and the difficulties in exporting soybeans to China are among the main challenges faced by rural producers in Paran\u00e1. The scenario was debated on Tuesday (24) at the meeting of the Technical Commission for Cereals, Fibers and Oilseeds of the Faep System.<\/p>\n
In the midst of the soybean harvest, which has already reached approximately 701% of the area in the state, the increase in diesel prices is worrying the sector, especially for the next harvest. In all regions, the fuel already exceeds R$7 per liter, reaching R$7.80 in some municipalities such as Prudent\u00f3polis. This value is above the R$5.50 recorded before the start of the conflict in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

According to the president of the Faep System, \u00c1gide Eduardo Meneguette, the impact affects the entire production chain. \u201cWith agriculture becoming increasingly mechanized, the dependence on diesel only increases. Furthermore, fuel represents approximately 40% of the freight cost, which should cause an increase in transportation prices in the coming weeks,\u201d he states.<\/p>\n
According to the Brazilian Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA), part of the fuel destined for Brazil is being redirected to countries that pay more, which could affect domestic supply in the future. In response, the Faep System requested immediate action: increasing the percentage of ethanol in diesel and increased inspections by Procon (consumer protection agency) at gas stations to prevent abusive practices.<\/p>\n
Keeping an eye on China<\/strong><\/h4>\nAnother point of concern is the export of soybeans to China. Even though port classifications operate with a limit of 1% for impurities, shipments have been rejected due to the presence of weeds considered quarantine pests, which are not found in that country.<\/p>\n
According to the head of the Plant-Based Product Inspection Service of the Federal Superintendence of Agriculture in Paran\u00e1, Fernando Augusto Pereira Mendes, in the first half of March alone, approximately 2,500 trucks were stopped at the Port of Paranagu\u00e1 for failing to meet Chinese requirements. Throughout 2025, this number reached 4,100 shipments that had to be returned. \u201cThis volume demonstrates the need for an action plan involving the entire production chain. Quality begins in the field, and the producer plays a central role in this process,\u201d Mendes emphasizes.<\/p>\n
