Activities in the second corn crop fields continue to advance across Brazil. According to Conab's crop monitoring data, as of last Saturday (28), 95.5% of the off-season areas had already been sown. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The index rose from 91.6% recorded last week, falling behind the 97.9% of the same period in 2025, but in line with the average of the last five years. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
So far, Goi\u00e1s, Piau\u00ed, Tocantins, Maranh\u00e3o and Mato Grosso have already completed planting activities, followed by Minas Gerais (94%), Paran\u00e1 (90%), Mato Grosso do Sul (88%) and S\u00e3o Paulo (70%). Of the areas already sown, 7.2% are still in emergence, vegetative development (73.1%), flowering (19.2%) and grain filling (0.5%).\u00a0<\/p>\n
Conab technicians highlight that the climate has favored the phenological development of crops in Mato Grosso, with physiological and phytosanitary development within normal parameters.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On the other hand, in Paran\u00e1, low soil moisture and high temperatures are affecting the productive potential in some areas. In Mato Grosso do Sul, planting has slowed down due to rainfall, and in Goi\u00e1s, phytosanitary pressure has increased due to rising temperatures.\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the same time, harvesting of the summer crop continues to advance, rising from 38% last week to 45.7%. This figure is lower than last year's 53.3% and the 45.8% average for the last 5 years. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
So far, Santa Catarina has harvested 88.9% from the areas, followed by Rio Grande do Sul (88%), Paran\u00e1 (87%), S\u00e3o Paulo (40%), Bahia (26%), Minas Gerais (21%) and Goi\u00e1s (3%). Meanwhile, 28.3% from the areas are already maturing, 17.1% are in grain filling, 6.8% are in flowering and 2.4% are still in vegetative development. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Conab technicians also point out that the harvest may advance with the reduction of rainfall in Minas Gerais, but it has slowed down in Rio Grande do Sul, with the prioritization of soybean work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Department of Rural Economy (Deral) of the Paran\u00e1 State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply also released its weekly report detailing weather and cultivation conditions for the state's main crops. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Planting of the second crop in the state has progressed, reaching 99% of the estimated total. To date, 2% of the area has already advanced to the fruiting stage, 13% are in flowering, 81% are in vegetative development, and 4% are still germinating, with 91% of the crops classified as being in good condition, 8% in average condition, and 1% in poor condition.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the same time, the summer crop harvest accounts for 91% of area, with the remaining crops divided between 99% in maturation and 1% in fruiting. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Deral technicians highlight that the first crop harvest is in its final stages or already completed in most regions, with yields varying according to rainfall distribution throughout the cycle. The planting of the second crop is practically finished, and the crops show conditions ranging from good initial development to concerning.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
"The irregularity of rainfall, coupled with periods of drought and high temperatures, has compromised development, resulting in uneven stands, short plants, and reduced productive potential. In some areas, there are reports of surface soil crusting and increased pest pressure, especially caterpillars.
