The Brazilian government has concluded sanitary negotiations that allow the export of dried distillers grains (DDG\/DDGS) to Chile, expanding external access to one of the main co-products of the corn ethanol industry. This input is widely used in the formulation of feed for poultry, swine, and cattle, and has gained ground in animal nutrition due to its concentration of protein and energy.<\/p>\n

The opening occurs in a context of growth in corn ethanol production in Brazil, especially in the Central-West region, which has increased the supply of DDG\/DDGS in the domestic market and put pressure on the search for new international destinations.<\/p>\n
Chile is already among Brazil's main agricultural trading partners. In 2025, the country imported more than US$2.2 billion in agricultural products from Brazil, mainly meat, forestry products, and the soybean complex. The inclusion of DDG (Dried Distillers Grains) in this trade agenda is expected to diversify this flow and add value to a strategic byproduct of the bioenergy chain.<\/p>\n
With this negotiation, Brazil has reached 601 market openings since 2023, a result of coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The strategy has prioritized the diversification of destinations and the expansion of the export portfolio, including products with higher added value and a lower historical presence in international trade.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
