After four consecutive months of decline, the purchasing power of poultry farmers in S\u00e3o Paulo, relative to the main inputs for the activity, such as corn and soybean meal, showed a recovery in April. This movement was influenced by the interruption of the most intense drops in the price of live chickens and by the decrease in input prices, according to a survey by Cepea.<\/p>\n
In the partial average for April, up to the 28th, the price per kilogram of live chicken was R$ 4.44 in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, with a slight decrease of 0.6% compared to March. Despite the negative variation, the rate of decline lost intensity, which contributed to improving the terms of trade during the period.<\/p>\n

According to market agents consulted by Cepea, there was room for positive adjustments in live chicken prices in the first half of the month. However, the movement lost momentum in the second half of April, indicating limitations in price recovery.<\/p>\n
On the cost side, the sharper drop in corn and soybean meal prices brought relief to producers. Considering the average prices of live chicken in S\u00e3o Paulo and corn in the Campinas region (SP), poultry farmers were able to purchase 3.91 kilograms of corn with the sale of one kilogram of chicken, an increase of 3.5% compared to March.<\/p>\n
In the case of soybean meal, the ratio also improved. In April, it was possible to buy 2.54 kilograms of the input with the sale of one kilogram of live chicken, an increase of 2.7% compared to the previous month.<\/p>\n
Despite the temporary improvement, the scenario still reflects a recent period of pressure on profit margins, with the recovery in purchasing power currently driven more by falling costs than by a consistent increase in the value of the final product.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
