The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued an orange alert, indicating a danger of storms, valid from 00:00 on Saturday (16) until 23:59 on Sunday (17), for an area that covers from north-central Paran\u00e1, passing through areas of southern and southwestern S\u00e3o Paulo, to a large part of Mato Grosso do Sul.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to the Institute's warning, there is a possibility of rainfall between 30 and 60 millimeters per hour or precipitation between 50 and 100 millimeters per day in these areas, intense winds of 60 to 100 km\/h, and hail. In addition, there is a risk of power outages, damage to crops, falling trees, and flooding.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The affected areas are: Northern Pioneer Region of Paran\u00e1, Presidente Prudente, Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, Eastern Mato Grosso do Sul, Bauru, Western Central Paran\u00e1, Ara\u00e7atuba, Northwestern Paran\u00e1, Mar\u00edlia, North Central Paran\u00e1, Southwestern Mato Grosso do Sul, Western Paran\u00e1, Southern Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul, Itapetininga, Eastern Central Paran\u00e1, Assis, South-Central Paran\u00e1, North-Central Mato Grosso do Sul, Southern Coast of S\u00e3o Paulo, Southeastern Paran\u00e1, and the Greater Metropolitan Region of S\u00e3o Paulo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Inmet also warns of a potential storm danger for a wider area stretching from Santa Catarina to the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Esp\u00edrito Santo. For these locations, there is a risk of rainfall between 20 and 30 mm\/h or up to 50 mm\/day, strong winds (40-60 km\/h), and hail. There is a low probability of power outages, damage to crops, falling tree branches, and flooding.\u00a0<\/p>\n
