Influenced by the absence of buyers in the spot market, corn prices fell again in most regions monitored by Cepea. With the start of the 2025\/26 second crop harvest, these agents maintain the expectation of increased supply in the coming weeks, putting pressure on prices.<\/p>\n
According to Cepea, the harvest, which is still in its early stages, is concentrated only in the states of Paran\u00e1 and Mato Grosso, and prices are at levels lower than at the beginning of the 2024\/25 season. In the regions of Sorriso (MT) and Northern Paran\u00e1, the partial averages for May (up to the 28th) are 11% and 8% lower than those of May\/25, in nominal terms.<\/p>\n
In this context, according to researchers at Cepea, buyers maintain the expectation that, with the progress of fieldwork from mid-June onwards, prices may fall even further. Furthermore, the good progress of planting in the United States has also put pressure on futures, a scenario that, in turn, limits export parity.<\/p>\n
Thus, according to the Research Center, not even concerns about adverse weather conditions, such as high temperatures and lack of rain in Goi\u00e1s and parts of Mato Grosso do Sul, in addition to frosts in Paran\u00e1, were enough to contain the price drops in recent days. However, prices remained firm in Santa Catarina and rose in Rio Grande do Sul, which have practically finished harvesting the summer crop.<\/p>\n
