Corn prices fell again in most regions monitored by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea). The movement is mainly driven by expectations of increased supply with the progress of the 2025\/26 second crop harvest, which has reduced buyer interest in the spot market.<\/p>\n

Although fieldwork is still in its initial phase, mainly concentrated in Paran\u00e1 and Mato Grosso, the market is already reacting to the prospect of larger volumes arriving in the coming weeks. According to Cepea, current prices are below those observed at the beginning of last season.<\/p>\n

In Sorriso (MT), one of the country's main producing regions, the partial average for May, up to the 28th, was 11% below that recorded in the same period of 2025. In Northern Paran\u00e1, the drop was 8%, considering nominal values.<\/p>\n

According to researchers at Cepea, many buyers remain out of negotiations, betting on further price decreases as the harvest gains momentum from the second half of June. The external scenario also contributes to the pressure on prices. The good progress of the North American crop planting has influenced future prices and reduced the competitiveness of Brazilian exports.<\/p>\n

Not even the weather concerns recorded in some producing regions have managed to support prices in recent days. Among the factors monitored by the market are the high temperatures and lack of rain in areas of Goi\u00e1s and Mato Grosso do Sul, in addition to the frosts recorded in Paran\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Despite the downward trend observed in most of the country, price behavior was different in the Southern Region. In Santa Catarina, prices remained stable, while in Rio Grande do Sul there was an increase in prices, reflecting the almost complete conclusion of the summer harvest and the lower immediate availability of the grain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
