SAO PAULO, June 1 (Reuters) \u2013 Brazil's second corn crop in 2025\/26, which is in its early stages of harvesting, is expected to reach 106 million tons, up from 106.15 million tons in the previous month's forecast, with some areas with more favorable yields, such as Mato Grosso, offsetting others with problems caused by drought in Goi\u00e1s, consultancy StoneX said on Monday.<\/p>\n
"There were both positive and negative adjustments among the states, but these balanced each other out and left the national total close to stability," StoneX explained in a report.<\/p>\n
Therefore, the second crop, which accounts for the majority of the corn harvested in Brazil, would see an annual decrease of 5.4%.<\/p>\n
StoneX highlighted an expected increase in productivity for Mato Grosso, which brought the projected production for the country's main agricultural state to 51.3 million tons. There was also an upward revision for Mato Grosso do Sul.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn the other hand, the drier weather negatively affected expectations for Goi\u00e1s' production, whose estimate fell to 10.8 million tons, 19.3% less than what was released in May.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the case of first-crop corn, StoneX maintained its projection at 28.32 million tons, an annual growth of 11%.<\/p>\n
Brazil's soybean crop, already harvested, was projected at a record 181.8 million tons, up from the previous estimate of 181.62 million tons, marking an annual increase of 7.71 TP4T.<\/p>\n
