The 2025\/26 summer carrot crop has shown good results for producers in Cristalina (GO) compared to the previous season. After two winter seasons (2024 and 2025) and one summer season (24\/25) marked by high supply and low prices \u2013 which culminated in sharp losses \u2013 the scenario this summer has been the opposite. The lower availability of roots, both in the Goi\u00e1s region and in other production centers, allowed for high prices, enabling good results. The lower supply was mainly related to adverse weather conditions during the planting period, between December and the end of March\/beginning of April. The high accumulated rainfall, combined with high temperatures, compromised not only the crop calendar but also the development of the areas, resulting in thinner roots and a higher occurrence of phytosanitary problems, especially blight and spot; as a consequence, discards increased, further restricting the volume of carrots in the region.<\/p>\n
In the partial harvest period, between January and the partial harvest period of June 2026 \u2013 up to the 5th \u2013 \u201cdirty\u201d carrots were sold at an average price of R$ 2.52\/kg, a value 133% higher than that recorded in the same period of the previous year. This increase in prices directly impacted the improved profitability of producers. Despite the favorable results observed in recent months, carrot growers remain cautious regarding large investments, especially concerning plantings for the 2026 winter season \u2013 with harvests expected to advance in the coming weeks. This concern is linked to the sector's recent history, as the last two winter harvests resulted in significant financial losses.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
