Brazil's trade balance recorded a surplus of US$ 5.11 billion up to the third week of August 2026, with exports of US$ 24.14 billion and imports of US$ 19.03 billion. According to data released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC) on Monday (24), the positive balance grew 19.7% compared to August 2025, while external sales advanced 14.3%.\n<\/p>\n
According to data released by MDIC, accumulated exports up to the third week of August grew 14.31% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching US$24.14 billion. Imports also increased, rising 13.01% to US$19.03 billion. As a result, the trade flow increased 13.71%, reaching US$43.18 billion.<\/p>\n
In the period from January to the third week of August, exports totaled US$242.69 billion, an increase of 10.71% compared to the same period in 2025. Imports totaled US$188.55 billion, an increase of 6.21%. This result led to an accumulated trade surplus of US$54.15 billion, an increase of 30.21%. The trade flow in the period reached US$431.24 billion, an increase of 8.71%.<\/p>\n
According to data released by MDIC, the agricultural sector registered a growth of 9.81% in exports up to the third week of August, reaching US$5.20 billion. The extractive industry showed an increase of 34.2%, to US$6.87 billion, while the manufacturing industry advanced 6.6%, reaching US$11.87 billion.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Among the agricultural products that contributed most to the growth in exports are live animals, with an increase of 141.9%. coffee<\/a>\u00a0not toasted, with an advance of 26.0%, and soy<\/a>, with growth of 11.4%.<\/p>\n In the extractive industry, sales of minerals of Copper<\/a> and their concentrates grew by 309.1%. Other ores and concentrates of base metals advanced by 129.6%, while crude petroleum oils or bituminous minerals increased by 46.9%. In the Manufacturing Industry, exports of poultry meat and edible offal grew by 44.1%. Sales of soybean meal and other animal feed advanced by 38.9%, and those of fuel oils from petroleum or bituminous minerals increased by 49.9%.\n<\/p>\n Despite the positive performance of Brazilian exports, some products registered a decline in foreign sales. In the manufacturing industry, exports of fresh, chilled or frozen beef fell by 18.61% of the daily rate (TP4T). Sugars and molasses decreased by 45.41% of the daily rate (TP4T).<\/p>\n According to data released by MDIC, imports from the Agricultural sector grew by 3.91% of the total export volume (TP4T) up to the third week of August, reaching US$0.32 billion. In the Extractive Industry, there was a decrease of 29.7% of the total export volume (TP4T), to US$0.88 billion. Meanwhile, imports from the Manufacturing Industry grew by 16.7% of the total export volume (TP4T), reaching US$17.72 billion.<\/p>\n Among agricultural products, purchases of whole live, dead, or chilled fish increased by 54.4%. Imports of unmilled wheat and rye grew by 12.2%, while those of fresh or chilled horticultural products advanced by 70.7%.<\/p>\n In the extractive industry, purchases of iron ore and its concentrates registered an increase of 4,611,293.6%. Other raw minerals advanced 9.5%, and other ores and concentrates of base metals grew 15.7%.<\/p>\n In the manufacturing industry, imports of petroleum fuel oils or bituminous minerals grew by 110.8%. Medicines and pharmaceutical products, except veterinary products, increased by 58.5%, while thermionic valves and tubes, cold cathode or photocathode, diodes and transistors rose by 69.9%.\n<\/p>\n Even with the overall growth in imports, some products saw a decrease in Brazilian purchases. According to data released by the MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade), soybean imports fell by 17.81% of the total export volume (TP4T), while imports of fresh or dried fruits and non-oilseed nuts decreased by 30.71% of the total export volume (TP4T). In the extractive industry, purchases of natural gas, liquefied or not, fell by 65.11% of the total export volume (TP4T). Imports of crude petroleum oils or bituminous minerals decreased by 7.41% of the total export volume (TP4T).<\/p>\n Among the products of the Manufacturing Industry, purchases of chemical fertilizers fell by 31.2%. Works of Iron<\/a> or steel and other base metal articles fell by 19.91% of the national average, while non-electric motors and machinery and their parts decreased by 66.91% of the national average.
