Rain returned to Central Brazil in September, improving conditions for the start of the summer harvest, but the uneven distribution of rainfall still requires caution from producers. Mato Grosso, Rond\u00f4nia, and areas of MATOPIBA are among the regions that continue to depend on a more consistent regularization of moisture, while in the South, excessive rain increases the risks for winter crops, especially [the following]. wheat<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

According to Ita\u00fa BBA's Agro Consulting, August was marked by predominantly dry and hot weather in Central Brazil, with low humidity and high temperatures. Rainfall was concentrated in isolated episodes, mainly in western Mato Grosso, without significantly altering soil conditions in much of the Central-West region.<\/p>\n

The period of dry weather, on the other hand, favored activities in the field. The conditions helped in the completion of the second corn, cotton, and sorghum harvests, in addition to allowing progress in preparing the areas that will receive the summer crops.<\/p>\n

The change began to appear in the first week of September, when rainfall reached areas of Mato Grosso, Goi\u00e1s, Minas Gerais, and other points in the Central-West and Southeast regions. The return of the rain brought an initial improvement in soil moisture after the drier period, but it was not yet enough to definitively establish the rainy season.<\/p>\n

This irregularity has a direct impact on soybean planting. In Mato Grosso and Rond\u00f4nia, the trend is towards greater caution in sowing, as producers need to avoid planting with insufficient moisture and the consequent risk of replanting. For the coming weeks, models indicate increased rainfall over parts of the Central-West, Southeast, and North regions, but still with uneven distribution.\n<\/p>\n

In MATOPIBA, vigilance remains high. If rainfall is delayed, planting in the first areas may be postponed. The delay could also increase the exposure of crops to periods of high temperatures and reduced water availability throughout the summer.<\/p>\n

The return of the rains brings positive effects to other crops. In coffee, rainfall favors the replenishment of soil moisture and helps in the development and uniformity of the first blooms of the 2027\/28 crop. In citrus farming, the greater availability of water reduces water stress in orchards and benefits fruit development.<\/p>\n

In the south of the country, however, the scenario is different. The humidity accumulated in previous months had already hampered field operations and favored the incidence of diseases in winter crops, mainly in wheat fields in Paran\u00e1. At the beginning of September, a mass of cold air also caused a drop in temperatures and sporadic occurrences of frost in higher altitude regions.<\/p>\n

The forecast of more frequent rainfall, especially in Rio Grande do Sul, maintains the alert for excess moisture, reduced sunlight, and increased disease pressure. For wheat, the risk is greater because some crops are going through crucial stages for grain formation and quality.\n<\/p>\n

With the start of the summer harvest, rainfall patterns become one of the main variables for Brazilian agriculture. While producers in the central region of the country await more regular rainfall to accelerate planting, farmers in the south need periods of lower humidity to preserve the health and quality of winter crops.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
