The prices of rice<\/a> Prices maintained a recovery trajectory between September and October, but the market showed signs of stabilization due to the reduced pace of purchases. The price per 50-kilo bag fell from R$ 79.44 on September 10th to R$ 82.85 on October 9th, as producers and buyers adopted more cautious positions in negotiations.\n<\/p>\n

According to an analysis by Ita\u00fa BBA's Agro Consulting firm, the price increase lost momentum after the recovery observed in previous months. Producers' reluctance to increase sales helped restrict product availability, while demand became more selective. The industry reduced the intensity of acquisitions, concentrating operations on occasional replenishments. In retail, some inventories had been built up during the period of high prices, decreasing the need for new immediate purchases and limiting the scope for more significant price increases.<\/p>\n

Export performance helped sustain the Brazilian market. Between March and September, rice shipments totaled 1.15 million tons (paddy basis), a growth of 23.21% compared to the same period in 2025. The exported volume helped reduce the availability of production in the domestic market.<\/p>\n

Despite the positive overall result, foreign trade showed changes in September. Imports exceeded exports that month, while the appreciation of the real and fluctuations in international prices reduced some of the competitiveness of Brazilian rice.\n<\/p>\n

Attention is also turning to the planting of the 2026\/27 crop. According to data presented by Ita\u00fa BBA, planting had reached 23.6% of the planned national area. The progress of the work shows significant differences between the producing regions.<\/p>\n

In Rio Grande do Sul, heavy rains interrupted sowing in most areas. In Santa Catarina, some regions were nearing the end of planting. In Paran\u00e1, work had progressed beyond 70% of the area, with crops in good condition. In Maranh\u00e3o, the planting of irrigated rice was in its final stages.<\/p>\n

The recovery in prices may influence producers' decisions regarding the area allocated to the crop. According to the report, the improvement in prices may limit a more intense reduction in cultivated area than previously expected. The definition of the area and weather conditions will be important factors for the production of the new season.\n<\/p>\n

Another point of attention is the outflow of the current harvest. The market still needs to absorb significant volumes before the next production arrives. In this context, the appreciation of the real and higher domestic prices may increase the attractiveness of imports from Mercosur countries. For the coming months, Ita\u00fa BBA's assessment indicates a prospect of sustained prices given the possibility of lower supply in 2026\/27. However, the pace of sales of the current production and the conditions for planting the new harvest should continue to influence prices.
