According to data compiled by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), the state has already exported 754,880 tons up to last month, and the volume already exceeds the total shipped during last year (704,660 tons).<\/p>\n<p>Export growth has been driven primarily by China, which opened its market to Mato Grosso&#039;s DDG in February of this year. The institute points out that, in just a few months, the country became the main destination for the product.<\/p>\n<p>In September, for example, state shipments totaled 130,650 tons, more than double the volume recorded in August and the second highest monthly result in the historical series.<\/p>\n<p>Of this total, 114,410 tons were destined for China, equivalent to 87.641 TP4T of the month&#039;s exports. This was the largest monthly volume imported by the Asian country since the market opened, indicating the growth in Chinese demand for the co-product of corn produced in Mato Grosso.<\/p>\n<p>According to Juan Porto, an agribusiness analyst at Imea, the movement is noteworthy because China has been reducing its share of purchases of corn grain from the state, but expanding its presence in the DDG market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn recent years, China has had excellent corn harvests, which has reduced its need to import them. So, today, although they don&#039;t occupy a prominent position in the consumption of corn grain from Mato Grosso, they have been gaining considerable relevance in DDG imports,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n<p>The Imea analyst also highlighted that the recent opening of the market helped boost this trade relationship.
