In the first seven working days of the month, Brazil shipped 1.73 million tons of the grain, with a daily average of 16.3% lower than that recorded in October of last year.

Data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex), presented in the weekly bulletin of the International Center for Economic Analysis and Agricultural Market Studies (CEEMA), show the difficulties faced by Brazilian corn in gaining ground in foreign trade. The greater availability of corn in the United States and Argentina has increased competition among exporting countries.

The scenario is especially challenging for Mato Grosso, the main national producer. In September, the state exported 2.85 million tons of corn, a volume 32.1% lower than that recorded in the same month of 2025 and 19% below the average of the last five years, according to information from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea).

Between July and September, shipments from Mato Grosso totaled 7.61 million tons, a decrease of 21.41% compared to the same period of the previous season. The reduction is also seen in sales to important international destinations, such as Egypt, Iran, and Spain.

Egypt purchased 1.97 million tons of corn from the state, a decrease of 3.85%. Shipments to Iran reached 739,000 tons, a decrease of 29.3%, while Spain received 710,000 tons, a reduction of 29.94%.

Despite difficulties in exports, corn prices remained firm in the Brazilian physical market during the week. In Rio Grande do Sul, the 60-kilo bag was traded at R$ 62 in Nonoai, while the state average received by producers was R$ 62.95, according to a survey by Emater.

In the other regions monitored, prices ranged between R$ 50 and R$ 63 per sack. In Campo Novo do Parecis, Mato Grosso, the grain was quoted at R$ 50. In Pato Branco, Paraná, the reference price reached R$ 63. These differences show the regional behavior of prices during the analyzed period.

Meanwhile, planting of the 2026/27 summer corn crop has progressed in the Center-South region of the country. As of October 8, planting had reached 44% of the planned area, according to AgRural. At the same time last year, planting was at 45%.

For Mato Grosso, the challenge in the coming months will be to increase shipments and avoid product accumulation. According to Imea's assessment, if exports through January follow the pace observed in the previous cycle, the state could reach approximately 21 million tons sold abroad.

In this scenario, it would still be necessary to export approximately 3 million tons between February and June 2027 to reach the projected 24.1 million tons for the season. This volume surpasses the historical shipments of approximately 2 million tons recorded during this period of the year.

The possibility of increased corn stockpiling in the state is worrying the market, especially due to the effects on inventory and storage capacity. Without increased demand, part of the production may remain available for longer in the producing regions.

In the domestic market, Agrinvest estimates that Brazil would need to ship approximately 6 million tons in November, another 6 million in December, and 5 million in January to reach 38 million tons exported in the cycle.

With increased international competition and the need to expand exports, the behavior of shipments will be one of the main points of attention for Brazilian corn. The pace of exports will be important for the flow of production and for the formation of stocks throughout the season.

THE Bela Cereais works with the best grains on the market and also keeps you up to date with the latest news and analyses on agribusiness.
Don't forget to follow our social networks.

Access News Source

[223
244,248,255,249,254,250,246,247,256,245,253,252,251
post-28739","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-milho","tag-agrolink","tag-agrotoxicos","tag-artigos-tecnicos","tag-classificados","tag-colunistas","tag-compra","tag-cotacoes","tag-defensivos","tag-eventos","tag-noticias","tag-precos-agricolas","tag-previsao-do-tempo","tag-venda
["GET
