The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued this Thursday (28) a storm alert with a severity level of potential danger (yellow) for parts of the Southeast and Central-West regions. The warning is valid between 6 pm today and 9 am this Friday (29).
According to the statement, rainfall of between 20 and 30 millimeters per hour or up to 50 millimeters per day is expected, accompanied by strong winds of 40 to 60 km/h, in addition to the possibility of hail. INMET emphasizes that, although the risk is considered low, there is a possibility of power outages, damage to crops, falling tree branches, and flooding in specific areas.
The regions under alert include Presidente Prudente, São José do Rio Preto, Araçatuba, and Bauru in the interior of São Paulo state, as well as the east, north-central, south-central, and Pantaneas of Mato Grosso do Sul. The warning also applies to southeastern Mato Grosso, southern Goiás, and the Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba region in Minas Gerais.
The recommendation is that the population monitor weather forecast updates and pay extra attention during the alert period, avoiding high-risk areas such as flooded streets and places near trees or power lines.
