Logotipo Notícias Agrícolas

As of last Friday (28), Mato Grosso had harvested 82.3% of the 12.66 million hectares estimated for the 2024/25 soybean harvest, registering an advance of 16.14 percentage points throughout the week.

The index is 2.36 percentage points behind that recorded in the same period last year, however, it advanced 4.86 pp compared to the average of the last five years, according to a survey by Imea.

This progress in harvesting activities also enabled the continuation of work on planting the second cotton and corn harvest.

In the case of cotton, planting in the state was officially completed on the last day of February, one week behind last season, but 0.10 pp ahead of the average of the last five years.

“The weather over the next two months will be decisive for the good development of cotton, especially in areas that were sown later,” highlighted Imea technicians.

In the case of corn, sowing activities advanced 17.8 percentage points in the last week, reaching 84.05% of estimated crops. The index is 5.1 pp behind the 2024 season, but also exceeded the average of the last five years, which is 84.02%.

The concern now is for the rest of the planting, since the ideal sowing window in Mato Grosso ended on February 28th.

“It is a point of attention, but it is not a nail in the cross that will define poor productivity. We will have a good part of the areas that will need a greater amount of rain at the end of the cycle. It is a challenge to see how the rains will behave, especially in the middle of the second half of April, a period that will be decisive for the formation and completion of this productivity of the second harvest in the state”, says Cleiton Gauer, Superintendent of Imea.
