Early marketing of soybeans from Mato Grosso remains delayed, says Imea

SÃO PAULO (Reuters) – Soybean sales from the 2025/26 harvest in Mato Grosso reached 27,40% by the end of August, according to data released on Monday by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), which showed a delay compared to previous years.

Despite the monthly increase of 4.91 percentage points, the pace remains below that recorded in the same period of the previous harvest and the average of the last five years.

At the end of August 2024, advance marketing for the 2024/25 harvest was 30,41%, while the historical average for the month is 36,28%, according to the report.

Among the regions of the State, the greatest monthly advance was observed in the west, with an increase of 6.57 percentage points, followed by the center-south (+5.63 pp) and the Middle-North (+5.12 pp).

The sale of the old soybean crop (2024/25) reached 91,94% of the total harvested in the previous season.

CORN

Sales of corn from the recently harvested 2024/25 crop in Mato Grosso reached 68,32% by the end of August, according to Imea.

The monthly increase was 7.21 percentage points, with emphasis on the Nnrte region, which recorded the highest increase in the period (+8.84 pp).

The current pace is below that recorded in the same month of the previous year, when 70,06% of production had already been traded, and also in relation to the average of the last five years, estimated at 77,61%.

Regarding the 2025/26 harvest, advance corn sales reached 15,51%, above the index seen at this time for the 2024/25 harvest (9,82%), but below the historical average (22,69%).
